Cora stares at a display of multi-coloured flowers and dildos in matching colours in the window of Kitty's Toy Chest feeling a little apprehensive about going in. The whole vibe is a little too cutesy, especially with the cartoon cat in the logo, but the other sex shop in town is seedy as hell, so Kitty's Toy Chest it is.

Nate opens the door and Cora leads the way inside. They've discussed at length what they want to try, but being faced with one hundred and twelve different options in every colour, shape, and size is… daunting.

We can ask someone, Toad, Cora says, when it's obvious his wheels are spinning a bit too fast. He's biting his lip and his eyes are darting, trying to take in everything at once. She slips her hand into the back pocket of his jeans. It's a little thing, but it's a comfort for both of them.

Nate nods. Yeah. That's probably a good idea.

A woman wearing an apron the same startling seafoam green as the walls is talking with a young person over a display of glass butt plugs. She makes eye contact with them and smiles warmly.

They mill around for a bit longer, looking at all sorts of lacy underthings that neither of them would look convincing in, until the clerk approaches them.

Hey there, thanks for coming in tonight. I'm Shaylee. Can I help you find something?

We're looking… Looking for uh… What are we looking for? He fumbles his words like this is the first time he's tried to speak.

Cora side eyes Nate; they came in looking for a harness, plain and simple, and he's never been one to get shy about sex.

Shaylee smiles again, and suddenly Cora thinks, 'oh, that makes sense.' Speaking in front of drop dead gorgeous women does tend to make Nate stumble.

A harness, Cora supplies.

Oh, lovely, Shaylee says. She eyes them both. For…?

Cora holds her hand up. Me.

Shaylee nods. We've got a lot of options along this wall here. You can try them on over your clothes and get a pretty good idea for fit. She briefly explains the different types and leaves them to it.

"She's cute," Cora says when Shaylee is out of earshot.

Sure, Nate says, studying a spot on the hardwood floor.

Cora bites back her smile and leaves it at that. She tries on a few harnesses, holding Nate's shoulder for balance. She stands still as he adjusts the straps for her, taking his time with the back,
