Chapter 5 Cyberattack

After dinner, they walked back to their cars. Jake had lent her his arm again, and Emmie liked to feel his warmth beside her.

Have you changed your mind? Jake asked.

I’ve had a wonderful evening, Emmie started.

Will it end here, or will you prolong it?

Let’s give it a try, Emmie plunged into it. Would you like to go to my place?

I’d love to. But I’ll have to bring my car. I can follow you.

Emmie drove ahead, constantly looking in the rear mirror to ensure he was following. She was living by her instincts. She would probably have said no if she had taken the time to think rationally about this. But, right now, it felt the right thing to do. There would be plenty of time for regrets later, but she knew she would regret it even more if she didn’t give their relationship a chance. Parking in front of her house, she stepped away from her car and waited for him to do the same.

I thought you said you had an apartment. This looks more like a house, Jake said as he looked at the building in front of them.

It’s a small attached house. Almost like an apartment.

I like it. You even have a terrace.

Come inside, Emmie said as she unlocked the door. It’s only two bedrooms, but that’s enough for me.

We only need one for what I have in mind, Jake said. He turned toward her and held out his hand.

Emmie closed the door behind them before walking into his arms. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him toward her. Standing on her tiptoes, she planted a kiss on his mouth.

I’ll be damned. You’re taking command. I thought I was to run the show.

You move too slow, Jake, Emmie said teasingly as she unbuttoned his shirt.

Jake laughed. Damn, you’re really something, darling, he said as he helped her open the remaining buttons of his shirt.

She pulled his t-shirt up from his pants, desperate to feel his naked skin against her hands. She moved her hands across his stomach and toward his nipples before moving slowly to his shoulders.

Wrong way, he breathed. There are more interesting things further down.

He pulled off his shirt and t-shirt, and she was spellbound at the sheer strength of his muscular chest. He didn’t seem to have any soft spots. She moved her hand across his chest.
