    Exacting Retribution II

    Chapter one

Holly Farris, a mid-thirties executive assistant is walking down the hall and stops at an office and knocks on the partially open door.

    Come in. Sam Vargas says.

I'm sorry to bother you Sam, but I need a favor.

    What's up, Holly?

I need to take a few days off.

    Everything OK?

Not really. Did you hear about the guy who was harvesting body parts from funeral homes?

My wife told me about that one. Pretty ghoulish if you ask me.

Well, one of the victims was my father-in-law.

    Oh Holly, I'm so sorry.

I'm taking it a little bit better than my husband, but that's not saying much. We want to get with our lawyer to see if there are grounds for a lawsuit.

You need a couple of days, you got it.

Thanks, Sam, I appreciate your understanding.

Holly, I'm curious. What do you know about this guy?

He was originally a dentist but lost his license and started a company that developed skin grafts for burn victims. Money got tight, so he began supplying the black market with bones and organs from recently deceased people, like my father-in-law.

    What a piece of shit.

Sam, he replaced my father-in-law's leg bones with PVC pipe and sewed him back up. Other people were transplanted with diseased organs.

Holly, are you sure that legal action will satisfy you and your husband?

I want to get back at this guy for what he did, so I'd say yes.

Close the door, there's something I want to ask you.

Holly gets up closes the office door and sits back down.

What if you could get back at this quack and make him pay for all of the people he's desecrated?

Sam, are you moonlighting as a vigilante?

Not me. Let's just say that I know some people. Are you interested?

    Interested? I'm intrigued.

"It goes without saying that we never had this conversation.

    Agreed?"

    Can I tell my husband?

Tell no one. If you are truly interested and can compartmentalize this, get me everything you can on this guy, and then forget it.

So what do I tell my husband about seeing the lawyer?

Tell him we’re much too busy here and I counseled you against it. Make me the bad guy.

Holly gets up, starts for the door, and turns.

So, if you're not the vigilante, are you his pimp?

Very funny. Don't forget what I said.

Thanks, Sam, I'll get you what I can on this creep.

Please do and close the door on your way out and remember not a word to anyone.

As Holly walks out and closes the door, Sam pulls out his cell and makes a call.

    Hello?

This is Sam Vargas; do you remember me?

Of course I do. How are things, Sam? JD Kendall says

"Very well sir, but one of my associates is in the market for your services.

    Referrals are always nice.

What would be the best way to get you background on her project?

A messenger will pick up a package addressed to Mr. Ford at your company's front desk. Call me when it's ready.

Sounds good, I'll be in touch. Thank you, sir.

    Glad to be of service.

Days later, seated in the outer office of JD’s playroom are former Army Ranger Roy Ingram and Private Detective Vic Valrello. JD finishes a conversation on his cell and kicks off a planning meeting.

Okay boys, our latest piece of shit is Kenny Mastrantonio. He started his career in medicine as a dentist. All went well until he got hit with a malpractice suit, lost his license, and began selling regenerated flesh to burn centers.

    Enterprising young man, Vic says.

"Here's where it gets interesting. Mastrantonio had the brilliant
