Foreword
Ihave known the author for quite some time. She is a sincere friend, dedicated trainer, serious content writer and a friendly mother. This dream of Ms. Malaimagal deserves a royal salute. There are several topics an author could write to become popular and to make money. But, Ms. Malaimagal lives by her commitments to the society through this book.
This book didn’t give me a feel of reading a book. It gave me an experience of a good friend speaking to me on a long drive. Yes, on a drive of active listening to a caring, intelligent and expressive mother. The author covers even the little things of a child’s world, a parent might have not noticed. Many parents are unable to enjoy the world of their own child because, they have killed the child within long ago. The author highlights what parents are missing to see, hear and understand in their child’s world.
She quotes few important articles that are worth to pay attention. I predominantly feel the mother of a girl child in the author throughout this book, a relatively critical parenting responsibility, yet her suggestions hold good irrespective of the gender. This book is written with high level of social responsibility to help and alarm parents to build a better future for their children. The pictorial representation of important points in this book deserves an appreciation.
I could see a different style of writing in this book. The author sounds as a perfect mix of a trainer, intellectual, caring mother and a careful observer of things happening around her child. This book is not only a collection of important parenting tips, but also a soulful message of a mother who is fighting hard with the ever changing, ever challenging life of her and her child. I hear the author’s inner feelings and internal discussions throughout this book and are carefully crafted to help the parents around the world.
I wish Ms. Malaimagal and her first book ‘Softify your Kiddo!’ a grand success. I request you to read this book in a peaceful mood to cherish the content shared. I am sure you will enjoy reading this book and you will refer this book to other parents too.
Sincerely,
Prasanna Venkatesan,

Prelude
To be or not to be…
To be a successful parent is one of the most aspired successes of every individual beyond all money, fame and position, a person holds in life. I have been through my professional journey across various genres, viz., a teacher, lecturer, counsellor, trainer and content writer. Be it any, my role as a parent is of paramount interest and diligence, just like you do. One interesting thing I could observe ips that every professional role of mine has a significant impact towards my parenting style. It is my dimension as a soft skills / behavioural trainer
that probed my mind on the questions Why is soft skills always attributed to learning at school / college / workplace? If soft skills and behavioural skills could be instilled in an adult, why not incorporate it in parenting during formative stages of a child? Isn’t it the fact that subconscious learning takes place in true and deeper sense when learning from a parent?
These self queries offered me a wide array of insights to the traits one has to imbibe, practise and implement as a parent. My educational profile (Masters in Psychology and Management) sounded one of the greatest strengths behind the seed for the thought of ‘Parenting Soft Skills’. Thus the birth of a genre of parenting, the Trait-Full Parenting
.
Before we proceed any further, it’s better to have the right understanding of ‘What are soft skills?’ The set of personal attributes that would help an individual to process a task, transact with the social environment and be ethically productive with a logically substantiated excellence by all means is what we mean here as soft skills
. Usually, an Organization identifies a set of skills (generally limited to focussed audience) to be possessed by its employees to effect one or more specific tasks and trains them towards an expected outcome. This is how usually Soft skills training for Corporate employees is conducted as a one time or on-going process or as an Executive Development programme. Whereas, we as parents are going to instill the Top 10 soft/life skills
identified to be most relevant and appreciably be inculcated in the formative stage of a child with a holistic approach, demonstrated here with practical tools for implementation. The reason behind is very simple, we are going to raise our children as better, informed individuals who will be able to face the world with better prudence in terms of softened personality traits. The learning curve can be alleviated because the learning happens in the natural environment of the child, hence subconscious learning happens and the impact shall be permanent.
