About this ebook
About the Book
The Peak of Mount Everest is a collection of mini stories that Abhash Aryal wrote and put his heart into. Most grownups write books as a bit older than a kid is supposed to read. There are a lot of kids that are on a high reading level, but the authors they read might use some words that are not age-appropriate. So, Aryal tried his best in this book to make sure that it is family
friendly.
About the Author
Abhash Aryal began writing this book at age ten. Abhash's greatest supporters are his mom, dad, and family. Aryal would like to thank his great friend, Param, for all the tips and tricks and help in editing. He would also like to remember his teachers, Mrs. Defuso from fourth grade, and Mrs. Johnson from fifth grade, to improve his writing skills: without them, Abhash would have terrible grammar and spelling. Abhash is thankful to Tanuja Adhikari, Nepali School teacher for love, support, and inspiration, and Bimala Niraula for giving him a lot of opportunities to sing and write, which helped to boost his confidence.
Special thanks to Madhu Panthi, Mina Panthi, Shova Acharya, Shiva Acharya, Bipin Ghimire, and Binita for playing positive roles in helping Abhash learn and grow.

The Peak of Mount Everest - Abhash Aryal
The Attack of the Five Monsters
My brother and sister are so annoying they keep on touching my stuff without permission, I thought. Then I hear footsteps coming up the stairs. Who in could it be? I wondered. The door suddenly barged open. To my surprise it was my twin brother Tommy with my train motor.
Hey why did you take that?
I asked in an agitated voice.
Because I want to play with it, duh,
said Tommy. Oh, how much I hated my brother since he is a brat. He never listens to anybody including my family and me. He thinks he is the ruler of all the people in America. He also wishes he is treated like a king. But he should not get extra treatment because he is a regular guy like me. So, he should not get extra treatment like an emperor. But he does get extra treatment from our father who praises him and my sister. I just hate that happening, but it is okay because our mother loves me the most.
Why is Tommy so bossy? He never lets me or Kristina play with his stuff, I thought as I started petting my cat Cho-Cho, who I love the most in the world. She means everything. Suddenly Tommy’s dog Rocky, whom I hate, came up to Cho-Cho and tried to scratch her. How rude of him. My brother has really got to train his dog to show some manners. But no, he is always busy making a stupid train that could float on water. He is so focused on being an engineer. He wishes to make an actual train so they can float on water and people do not have to go on boats. But every attempt he tries fails. He is always missing something. Tommy is curious as a monkey looking for its home.
My sister Kristina is the one that I like as a sibling.
Tommy and Tommis come to the kitchen. Look what Johnny can do,
I said quickly in excitement. Both of my lovely brothers came to the kitchen to see what my dear bird can do. Look!
I said excitedly. I gently pulled out my hand. Then Jhonny grabbed on to it and started hanging upside down like a bat. Then he did a back flip and started flying up, down, side to side. Which was the best trick I had ever taught him. I just love my little bird friend so much that he is a pet I would consider a sibling.
Dinnertime,
said our father. My two brothers and I all ran downstairs. To our surprise we saw our dad’s special spicy chicken and corn on the cob. Then out of nowhere, our mother came out with her sweet-and-sour sauced pork chops. I knew this dinner was going to be delicious. Then suddenly I heard that stress signal of my pet bird Jhonny who I named after my favorite actor Johnny Depp.
Kristina, Tommy, and I all went up to the attic and we all started looking for our pet bird. Which we all adored. Then we saw tracks of blood. I could see Kristina’s eyes fill up with tears. Then our father quickly came upstairs after he heard our sister crying. When he saw the floor, he also realized what had happened. We can buy another one,
said our father. But our sister would not have it Jhonny was her favorite bird. She could not dare get a replacement for him, she knew that he was alive, and someone was trying to scare her. She started interrogating everybody one by one. Then suddenly Tommy blames it on me.
Why would I do it?
I asked.
You are the only one in the house who could build traps out of technology,
Tommy said in suspicion.
I was trying to make a train that can float on water not a thing that could steal other people’s pets,
I said in disbelief of my brother accusing me. I know what you are doing you are trying to get revenge for what happened during the battle against cats and dogs!
In that battle you paid everybody to vote dogs,
Tommy said in an angry voice. Then Tommy’s cat Cho-Cho comes from a box nearby. Why is Cho-Cho there? Is she the one who killed Jhonny?
Kristina said in disbelief. Are you accusing of Cho-Cho of killing the bird. Well, that is just nonsense,
said Tommy.
The next day Tommy, Kristina and I have school. When we step inside Professor Williams’s class, he tells us that we only have two weeks until we take our final exams. When I turned around, I could see the worried faces of my friends who had barely study for exams. And on top of that, Professor Williams said it would be 95 percent of our grade, which is a lot, if you ask me. At lunch my siblings, friends, and I came with a plan of how we can get more than a pass advanced. Why doesn’t everybody not come to our house, and we can study three different courses today and tomorrow we study three different courses since then we would only have three courses to study, which we could finish on Sunday?
After school we all asked our parents if we could have each other at somebody’s house so we could study for the final exams. So, when we had to review, we studied twice as much as we usually do, which was a big achievement, if you ask me. When we slept it was 4:00 a.m., which was dark. We
