    EXT. DESERT - NIGHT

    SUPER the legend: IRAQ, 2006

    WILLIAM - mid-twenties - and his fellow troops rush into incoming fire.

    Looking back, William sees a fallen comrade. Then, rushing to his aid, he finds the grazed shoulder to be just a flesh wound as he helps his fellow trooper to his feet.

    As William and his slightly wounded buddy run alongside a friendly tank, William falls behind scouting for enemies - but looking up he sees a demonic figure right out of a nightmare.

    Falling to the ground he takes aim as the DEMON - nostrils flaring - rushes rapidly closer.

    William fires.

    INT. WILLIAM’S BEDROOM - MORNING

    William bolts up in bed sits, soaked in sweat and breathing rapidly, just as his clock alarm sounds.

    RADIO ANNOUNCER

    Good morning, New York. It’s 7:00 A.M., Friday morning. And we have the music for your drive to work...

    INT./EXT. TRISH’S CAR - MORNING

    TRISH - a breathtaking twenty-six - sits in traffic, drumming her fingers impatiently on the wheel.

    Glimpsing all around, she pulls out of her lane just before another driver, distracted by his cell phone, blasts through a red light and smashes into Trish’s car.

    INT/EXT. WILLIAM’S CAR - CONTINUOUS

    Sitting in his driveway, William cranks his ignition again and again as the car fails to start.

    WILLIAM

    DAMN!

    Looking at his watch, he hops out and immediately starts chasing a passing bus.

    INT. AIRPORT - CONTINUOUS

    Joseph - tall, late forties - looks up at a flight board that reads: 9:00 A.M. FLIGHT CANCELLED.

    Turning away, he hurries to an attractive young woman at the service desk.

    JOSEPH

    Excuse me, could you tell me why the 9:00 AM has been cancelled?

    YOUNG LADY AT THE SERVICE DESK

    Yes, there’s was a little problem with the landing gear on the previous flight and we have to see if it can be repaired or wait for another plane.

    JOSEPH

    How long will that be?

    YOUNG LADY AT THE SERVICE DESK

    At least three or four hours.

    JOSEPH

    Okay, thank you.

    Joseph picks up his brief case and walks away.

    INT./EXT. BUS - CONTINUOUS

    William stares out the window as the bus moves past Trish’s accident scene, observing two EMTs work on her as they hurry her to an ambulance.

    INT. JACK’S KARATE - MORNING

    William walks into the gym and yells.

    WILLIAM

    Jack!

    JACK (O.S.)

    One minute!

    Jack- an incredibly fit thirty-ish - enters from the back room.

    JACK (CONT’D)

    What’s up, William?

    WILLIAM

    Nothing much. Morning’s been a little crazy though.

    Jack walks up and shakes William’s hand as they both go and take a seat.

    JACK

    Crazy?

    WILLIAM

    Well, first I had another one of those combat in the desert dreams and then my car wouldn’t start.

    JACK

    Another one? That’s like every night this week.

    WILLIAM

    I know.

    JACK

    How long you been having these types of dreams?

    WILLIAM

    As long as I can remember.

    JACK

    Have you thought about talking to someone about them?

    WILLIAM

    What, like a shrink?

    JACK

    Yeah, or someone who knows about dreams.

    WILLIAM

    I don’t know.

    JACK

    Well, you should.

    INT. HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM - CONTINUOUS

    Nurses rush the gurney containing Trish from the entrance and into a hallway as a young, stubble-faced doctor hurries behind.

    DOCTOR

    She has massive head trauma. Get me some x-rays and prep an O.R.

    INT. JACK’S KARATE - CONTINUOUS

    William slaps Jack on the shoulder as he steps away from his chair and heads for the door.

    WILLIAM

    Alright, then. I’d better get next door and open up the store. Will’s Records doesn’t run itself y’know.

    JACK

    Later.

    Stopping hesitantly at the door, William turns and yells back.

    WILLIAM

    Hey man, can I borrow your car around 10:30? I need to run downtown to the bank.

    JACK

    No problem.

    INT. HOSPITAL LOBBY - CONTINUOUS

    Trish’s father - middle-aged and disheveled - rushes to the FRONT DESK NURSE.

    TRISH’S FATHER

    Patricia Scott, she’s my daughter... and was just admitted in Emergency.

    FRONT DESK NURSE

    Have a seat, sir, and I’ll have the doctor come and talk to you as soon as possible.

    EXT. SIDEWALK OUTSIDE BANK - MORNING

    William looks up
