PREFACE
The entire history of man has been marked by discovery; the realization that concepts and other realities exist outside of the scope of what we may know and hold to be true at a specific point in time.
We know much about the natural world and many would concede that there is much more that is to be learned, but what do we know about the unseen world around us? Does it exist and if it does, why? Is there more that we can learn and how can we get that knowledge?
There are three basic groups of individuals on the earth: those who believe in a supreme being(s), (the God of the bible or other gods); those who do not (atheists) and those who say that they are not sure (agnostics). There are many different explanations put forth by persons for why they hold the beliefs that place them in one of the aforementioned categories. All of their views are usually subjective, in spite of the force of the argument, the strength of the logic or the depth of the wit involved.
In this writing, a biblical perspective will be advanced, with the hope of helping those who find themselves in any of the three groups outlined above, to gain a better understanding of the our existence in this realm, in light of biblical insights.
In many cultures, there is an established acceptance of the reality of the spiritual nature of man. Few would disagree that man is composed of tangible and intangible parts; a physical body with soul (mind, will, & emotions) and spirit. In western civilization, the body has been extensively studied and dissected for many years, marginal inroads have been made into studies of the mind, but little is known about man’s spiritual nature. However, these spiritual realities are quite popular in and infuse the cultures of native North & South American, African and Asian peoples. Their knowledge and understanding of various energies, also called ‘chi’, prana etc., and the interaction of these energies on and in humans are well known. The recorded histories of these peoples document their attempt to explain the spiritual aspect of our existence, but without knowledge of the One, True God; the God of the Bible. The bible does not hesitate to speak plainly about the reality of a spirit realm. It gives insights into that which we cannot see and this esoteric writing, is a brief study into some of what the bible reveals about the world unseen.
The bible, in my opinion, offers answers to life’s most perplexing questions and is used as a reference for truth in this study because of the foundational belief that God is all knowing. He is the only being with a 360 degree perspective on any issue, making what He says absolutely true, whether we agree or not. Fallible men however, have extremely limited perspectives because of our limited grasp on reality, so that we can only have partial truths on many matters.
The bible is composed of individual books, written by multiple men, over the course of many centuries, as they were inspired by God. The writings have consistent themes that revolve around the sovereignty of God, the fallen state of man and the various means God used to restore the broken relationship He has with man. It is not just another collection of religious writings, nor are its writings mythical. It gives insights into the past, speaks to us of the present and boldly tells of what the future holds. There is no other book like the bible in the entire world. It does not attempt or claim to answer every question we may have, but it does answer every question we need to make it through life. Whether or not we accept its offerings is simply a matter of choice!
I hope that this work is of some benefit to the reader.

… And There was War
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear (Heb. 11:3 KJV)
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him (Rev. 12:7-9 KJV)
The true nature of man (male and female humans) and the world around him (them) cannot be seen solely with the natural senses. We should not be surprised then, that the world that we see around us with all of its wonders to behold, the sights, sounds and conundrums that appear, were made of things that are unseen. They did not evolve or come about through a series of statistically impossible accidents. The bible teaches that the existence of the world and all of its contents was the deliberate act of an unseen, omnipotent, but knowable God.
The two passages above serve to further advance our understanding of the biblical perspective regarding our world and our existence. They highlight several things that are essential to understanding the theme of this book.
Firstly, the passages above state there are both visible and invisible realms, both of which were created. In the physical world, things that are seen are made of things that are tangible; made of matter. However, the things from which matter is made, did not initially exist, they came about, by God’s creative power, from things that were not seen.¹ So God made the atoms, and molecules that would form the basis of matter, and the forces that hold them together from nothing.
To draw a parallel, consider that the bible teaches that man is made in the image of God and as such also has creative power.² If we consider the processes that precede the natural creation of things by man, we
