About this ebook

Clint:
Two of seven of my brothers have found their 'ones.' Their soulmates. The ones that were meant to be theirs. The one woman that would give them a family, a life, a love that will last lifetimes. Now I'm left wondering who will get hit next, hoping and praying it's me. I may be a shameless flirt, the one and only thing mama taught me how to be, but that doesn't mean I pursue any woman that looks my way. Nope, I'm saving myself for my other half. Then she shows up, and the rollercoaster of emotions I get from just one look is more than I could have dreamed. Now I just need to show her I'm more than a pretty smile and uncontrollable flirt. Now I have to show her the real me. Piece of cake, right?

Jana:
Being pushed off a boat in the middle of the lake by your brother's bride-to-be in front of the hottest guy imaginable has to be the worst thing ever, right? Wrong. What makes it the worst situation ever is not knowing how to swim when it happens. Fortunately, said hot guy doesn't think twice before he jumps in to save me. Then he flashes me a dangerously beautiful smile that has me wanting to follow him to the ends of the earth. He says I'm his one, and all he wants is me. My only concern is how many 'ones' he has had before, and if I'll be able to take the heartbreak if I'm not his last.

    Prologue

    Clint

O kay, baby, go turn on that beautiful smile and charm of yours and get us some money, my mom tells me, just like every other night. I turn and start making my way to the end of the alley we are currently holed up in. This is the worst part of my day. I don’t like going out and talking to people alone, but if I don’t, momma will be mad and upset, and I hate that even more. So instead, I turn on my beautiful smile and get to work.

I’m six years old, and I have no idea what a house or a bed feels like or what having a full belly means. All I know how to do is beg and steal every night, since my momma says I gotta earn my keep, to turn on my smile and fool people into looking one way while I take anything from their pockets on the other side. I’m really good at it too, which sometimes gets me surprises. My momma tries to get me a treat whenever she can, but lately, she’s been slower than normal and napping a lot more. One day she was fine, then all of a sudden, she started acting funny. I don’t know what’s wrong or what to do to help, so I just try to steal even more to make her happy.

Tonight I was able to steal an extra twenty-dollar bill and an expensive-looking watch. Extra always makes momma smile big. Holding my jacket pockets tight, I run as fast as I can and make my way back to our alley. I’m extra careful as I head over to our spot. Momma always says to keep my eyes big and look all around, so nobody follows me. I need to keep her safe, so I’m always extra sneaky. I see
