Daily Christian Life & Practical Spiritual Warfare
()
About this ebook
Practical Spiritual Warfare is simply cleanup work with the power of the Holy Spirit
This book is about daily spiritual warfare—things which every believer needs to know. This is especially true now that the Age of Gentiles is coming to an end. It will get much worse immediately after the Church leaves to be with Jesus forever. But things have radically changed since 2020, and the rapidity of the changes is skyrocketing. It's getting much worse, very fast.
This does not have anything to do with the horrible Hollywood depictions of the battle. Satan is a defeated foe, and in Jesus, He is easily bound or defeated entirely in your life and in the lives of those for whom you are responsible. He can't really do anything to you unless you allow it. All He has are his limited tools of fear, confusion, doubt, and anger. And of course, His lies. He's real good at lying, accusing, scaring, and so on. He's especially good with false guilt and condemnation. But in this book we will show you how to get rid of those things in your life. You can stop all of that immediately, while you speak the prayers that will get rid of him. In Jesus, there's nothing the Creep can do if He cannot get you to believe the lie.
But it does assume that you are cleaned up [through regular repentance and forgiveness], reborn, and filled with the Holy Spirit. But in that spiritual state, the enemy and his minions are forced to obey any command you make in the name of Jesus, our Messiah.
Once you accept that, spiritual warfare becomes the spiritual equivalent of cleaning house and getting rid of vermin. You will discover the practical prayers you can pray, how to prepare yourself, and how to be effective. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So, what you see in Acts can be done today.
David Bergsland
For me, my early life culminated with the great rebellion of the sixties. Ending up as a fine artist and heavy user of pot and acid, I needed help. I met Jesus in 1974, and my life began, for real. The Lord gave me an amazing Godly woman for my wife in 1976. I became a graphic designer, font designer, and desktop publisher. In 1991, I began teaching printing and digital publishing. That resulted in writing dozens of books and booklets about the practical processes, using InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. In 2009, I began the transformation into an author of fiction. By the end of 2022, I had 17 novels in five series, as I have developed my craft. This book is #20, and is the third book of the sixth series. I’m using Christian contemporary speculative fiction with some Biblical romance to share stories about the reality of how Jesus touches our day-to-day lives, while being strongly focused upon Biblical truth. I put the stereotypical Bible quoters in the same category as robo-callers. I attempt to reveal Jesus within a realistic world sharing my experiences. The goal is to reveal Jesus as a loving Creator building people into what they are designed to be. I currently assume time is running short, and the final harvest is here.

This is a work of careful non-fiction, based on my experiences in the fifty years I have known the Lord. I have taught Bible studies for at least forty two of those years.

This book is written to believers everywhere who are getting ready to get out of here! The last days are getting a little squirrelly, and will soon get much worse than that.

Why does so much Christian living remain powerless?
How can I reach the people I meet and my readers with the Gospel? Ever since I started rating Christian fiction on the level of its spiritual content, it has been obvious that transformational Christian books are rare—both fiction and non-fiction. But that’s true no matter what field, trade, or ministry you are involved with these days. As the world has swung past politically correct into woke, huge numbers of so-called Christians also seem to be pulling back—compromising the Truth in their life, work, and ministry.
I’ve also seen little reactions of surprise, even outraged defensiveness when I suggest that you cannot write powerful Christian books without the power of the Holy Spirit. People get really upset when I refuse to rate Old Testament fiction as Christian. I mean, how can it be Christian, before the Messiah came?
Until 2009, I worked for state schools and private colleges where I was not even allowed to mention the name of Jesus. Yet the work of the Lord was not hindered. For in these tough situations, I had a ministry of power even in the midst of the restrictions.
In addition to my creative life, there has always been a parallel thread in the weave of my normal work-a-day life occurring at the same time. For example, on my original blog, The Skilled Workman, I had all my output for many years. On that blog, in addition to my technical work with page layout and typography within InDesign plus font design using FontLab, the favorite posts are all my old Christian posts. Number one, by far, is Spiritually cleaning up your workspace. Now The Skilled Workman has a sizable section on my Christian non-fiction books—and teachings offering meat instead of milk.
On the writing side of my life, a small group, with those of us who consider this stuff to be important, has been slowly growing in obscurity. Here’s an edited excerpt from a letter I received in 2018. It voices a common complaint:
I have been a born-again Christian for 44 years, have a powerful testimony of how God saved me…and was…[given]…God’s message to Christianity…yet everywhere I go Christianity refuses to hear the message…Christian bookstores are turning a blind eye…
Now, I know that God called me to take His message outside the church …But there are many who have stopped attending church but still go to Christian bookstores. It is a rather perplexing conundrum…
But it’s not only in the creative fields
These days most churches have forfeited their power also. The idea of bringing the presence of the Lord to work or play is largely lost. Even when we meet believers in the world, Jesus is rarely mentioned. If He is people seem shocked and look around furtively like we’re doing something wrong—and we might get caught. That’s getting much worse as the end draws near.
We get dinged as fanatics, Bible-thumpers, overly religious, or simply nuts. When’s the last time you met someone on the street, found out they were sick, prayed for them, and saw them get healed? How long has it been since someone you know did something on that level of power? My pastor does that regularly—but it is certainly not normal any more.
No! I am not suggesting confrontation and rude behavior. What I’m talking about is the Power of God, the Holy Spirit, flowing in and through you at all times. If we live in the Kingdom, this is part of our normal daily living.
The visible church and most believers have largely become rabidly woke, rather than Truthful
The whole idea of woke is obviously of the flesh. Truthfulness is no longer a factor in many cases. In 2 Tim 3:16, where Paul tells us that scripture is profitable for correction, the word correction means "a restoration to an upright or right state" according to Vine. In fact, if you look at the works of the flesh, we see much of what we are seeing in our culture today: enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit
. Galatians 5:20 RSV Sadly, we see this in the church, preached from the pulpits of America. Both sides, conservative and progressive, democrat and republican, or any of the rest of the party spirit divisions, are outside the blessed unity promoted by the Holy Spirit for the Body of Christ.
So, what do we do?
We recognize that only the Holy Spirit can lead us through this maze of nastiness. Jesus told us:
