On Bainbridge Island, Washington, during the summer of 1965, it was initially conceived of and brought into existence. A congressman by the name of Joel Pritchard, together with his two friends, Bill Bell and Barney McCallum, were seeking for ways to keep their families engaged when they would otherwise be bored.
