    Marian King Drops

Marian is a lover of Jesus, a wife, mother, grandma to the sons of her three adopted Chinese daughters. She is a Bible teacher, graduate of Bible Study Fellowship, retreat leader, past board member of Moms in Prayer and of SEEDS San Diego. Marian has been a business and governmental consultant/trainer. Her missionary trips to 24 countries have given her firsthand knowledge of situations that strike fear into the hearts of people who struggle worldwide.

Marian starts her day with prayer, God’s word, and a heavy dose of coffee.

A well-worn verse from her Bible is 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

    Acknowledgment

First, I acknowledge my precious husband of 50 years,

    George J. Drops.

It is because of his loving, caring support that I was able to overcome fear, anxiety, and many other demons that assailed me in the early years of our marriage.

I am thankful for the patient, skillful efforts of our son David who designed the beautiful cover of this book and our son Jonny who helped in other ways to grant me time to write.

Thanks to Pastor Jurgen Matthesius and Pastor Jeff Rutkowski from Awaken Church for their messages that prompted me to take up this transcript that had lain dormant for nearly ten years.

    COME

You are cordially invited to journey

    through these chapters to discover

God’s ways to eradicate fear and

    anxiety from your life. Eradicate

means to tear up from the roots.

The Bible says, "Every plant that my

    heavenly Father has not planted

will be pulled up by the roots."

    Matthew 15:13

    Introduction

    Dear Reader,

First, I express my empathy that you are dealing with anxiety or one of its corollaries: fear, panic, depression, or obsessive worry. I am aware that such feelings/thoughts can be crippling. However, you do not need cliches, theories, or unrealistic platitudes. If you are like me, you want victory. You want freedom. You want to be able to breathe again. You want life!

You are probably wondering, What does this person have to offer? Has she experienced situations that cause loss of appetite, inability to breathe, trembling, and raw fear? My encounters with fear began at 8 when my hero died. A cerebral hemorrhage took Dad within a few hours. Mom and I moved back to our hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, where we rented two rooms in a strange family's house. It was there that I became my mother’s caregiver. Nine months later, I was orphaned when Mom died of cancer. A succession of frightening experiences followed: sexual abuse by an in-law, being sent to boarding school in another state, and abuse by one of the overseers at the school.

As I grew into adulthood, my approach to perceived dangers morphed from fearing to controlling them. The words of William Ernest Henley in his work Invictus became my battle cry.

I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul.

Perhaps this is an approach you have tried, possibly with a similar degree of failure. Control and fear are two sides of the same coin. But, giving up control has its own set of fears unless you yield control to the One who has ultimate control.

My control led to a place of suicidal desires, which only indicated that I no longer wanted to live in a place of bondage to fear and anxiety. Death seemed sweeter than anxiety and fear. Once I realized that my ways were leading to death, I took the chance of surrendering to the One who promised freedom and life! Gradually, I was able to face fearful situations without anxiety. If you want that same victory, give God a chance. Learn his path out of bondage and into freedom and life! Read Free for Good.

You will see many verses from the Bible in this book because the Bible contains truth. It is true whether you believe it or not. The Bible has stood victorious over decades of criticism. The French philosopher Voltaire once said, A hundred years from my death, the Bible will be a museum piece! One hundred years after his death, the French Bible Society set up its headquarters in Voltaire’s old home in Paris. In spite of years of criticism of the Bible and its authenticity, it has remained true and its critics false.

My book is divided into four sections: Come and See, Come and Know, Come and Follow, and Come and Be Free. Each section has seven chapters. Four and seven are numbers of completion in the Bible. I hope and pray that as you read this book, you will come to a place of completion in ending your bouts of fear and anxiety or, at the very least, learn how to defeat them should they reoccur.

When you read the Bible, it is not like reading any other book.

"God’s word is alive and working. It is sharper than the sharpest sword and cuts all the way into us. It cuts deep to the place where the soul and the spirit are joined. God’s word cuts to the center of our joints and our bones. It judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts."

    (Hebrews 4:12 ERV)

No other written word does surgery in our hearts like the word of God. This is what Jesus said about His words,

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. (John6:63b)

If you want to know the truth and be free, read God’s words in this book and in the Bible. God’s words cut at the root of your fear and anxiety. Please note that Bible references are from the New International Version unless otherwise marked.

There is a story in the Bible about a woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years. Basically, she had no control over her menstrual cycle. In Hebrew circles, this meant that she was an outcast. No one could associate with her or visit her in her home. If she accidentally touched someone, they would be considered unclean and need to perform a cleansing ritual. We are told in Mark 5:26, "She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse."

Can you relate? You may have tried many treatments, formulas, drugs, and self-medicating to overcome fear and anxiety, only to find that you did not recover but only got worse!

This woman had heard about the healing powers of Jesus. She followed him in a huge crowd of people and dropped beside him so she could touch just the hem of his robe. Instantly she was healed. Instead of rebuking her for touching him, Jesus called her daughter and said that her faith had made her well. Come and learn who Jesus really is. Let His words bring you spirit and life. What do you have to lose? Fear, anxiety, and depression.

    Come and See

Jesus looked around and saw them following. What do you want? he asked them.

Sir, they replied, where do you live?

Come and see, he said. John 1:38-39a

Therefore, many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed in him. John 11:45

Come, see who Jesus really is.

    The Role of Perfect Love

Come and see how perfect love deals with fear and its offspring.

For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me, and what I dreaded has happened to me.

    (Job 3:25 NKJV)

People who are not even Bible scholars generally know the story of Job's trials. He was a man blessed with all sorts of riches that this world had to offer him. Yet, in the short span of one day, Job lost his animals, servants, children, and their house! Apparently, such disaster was something Job had spent considerable time greatly fearing. Such loss was something he had dreaded.

Left with his wife, Job did not receive comfort from her. Soon after, his health began to wane. He developed painful sores, possibly boils, from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. In response to his pain, Job's wife suggested,

Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die!  (Job 2:9)

We can look at Job's circumstances and wonder if terrible things happened to him because he was a hardened sinner. However, scripture proves that was not the case by God's admission.

One day the members of the heavenly court came to present themselves before the

    L

ord, and the Accuser, Satan, came with them. ⁷ Where have you come from? the Lord asked Satan. Satan answered the Lord, I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that's going on.

    Then the Lord

    asked Satan,

"Have you noticed my servant, Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a
