    About the Authors

    Preface

We all have faith. Some seem to have extraordinary, mountain-moving faith. Others…well, maybe not as much. Regardless, we all have been given what the apostle Paul describes in Romans 12:3 as the measure of faith. As we navigate the corridors of our life, we need faith to deal with all that we are confronted with on a daily basis. Sometimes we need a boost or a lifting of the faith that we do have just to make it through the day. This is not a thing of vanity, this is something of spiritual necessity that we no matter what happened yesterday, today our need my faith to be lifted.

This devotional is meant for people just like you who find yourself in a situation where you need your faith to be lifted, but you are in such a low place that you don't even know what to pray or how to pray. In these pages, you will find a curated set of anointed, focused prayers, asking God on your behalf to lift your faith in various areas of your life. The prayer of faith, according to James 5:15, will save the sick. But do you even have the faith level required to pray for the sick, especially if the sick happens to be yourself?

This book is the result of over two years of daily prayers from the ministers at Elevating Faith Ministries, who prayed in faithful obedience to what the Lord has instructed us to do. God spoke to my heart and gave me this simple phrase: LIFT. LIFT, for us, stands for Lord, Increase Faith Today. This phrase has become the basis for our daily prayers, and even more than that, it has become our daily affirmation. It has become our mantra. It has become, at times, even our battle cry in the time of battle. We pray that you will join us as we LIFT our faith in Jesus's name. May you be blessed by this book and pay it forward and bless five people close to you with this book as well.

    In His faithful service,

    Pastor L. Elliott Abraham

    Introduction

At Elevating Faith Ministries, our mission is to elevate faith in Christ from concept to conviction through preaching, teaching, and application of the Word of God. Our motto is Faith in Action to Kingdom Growth. Our prayer for you is that this devotional will strengthen your faith in God no matter what season you may find yourself in. We know that not all spiritual journeys are the same. We hope to inspire you to open up and strengthen your own spiritual growth.

The prayers poured out into the pages of this devotional started with a true encounter with God during our end-of-year fast. We used this time of fasting to restore, renew, and connect with God. The word LIFT was highlighted in the Spirit during this time of prayer.

LIFT was not given just for worship and the lifting up of our hands, but God also gave the meaning of the word LIFT with the acronym to go with it. L for Lord, I for Increase, F for Faith, and T for Today. When we pray, Lord, increase faith today, we are asking God to increase the faith that we already have for today. We are believing that God will bless the faith we have and give us a fresh anointing, a renewal, and a recharge.

We sincerely pray that you will find the intercessory prayers that are found in this book to be inspirational and encourage you in your journey of faith one day at a time.

    Day 1

    Daily LIFT

Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them.

    Exodus 14:19

Have you ever been afraid to take that initial step? That step could be to leave an abusive relationship, seek help for something that you are battling, or just to launch out into a new career.

The dictionary defines inertia as the tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged. How many of us have been suffering from spiritual inertia in our lives? We know that God is calling us to move, to go forward, to make a change, but we are afraid.

In our scripture reference today, God instructed Moses to tell the children of Israel to go forward. I believe in faith that God is instructing you to break the hold of your spiritual inertia and go forward in faith, go higher in faith, trust Him in your faith. I can assure you that if you trust in Him and go forward in faith, He will always have your back.

    Let us pray

Lord, increase faith today in us that we will be empowered enough to break the hold of spiritual inertia in our lives, where we are stuck and do nothing. We aren't growing, we aren't going, and we aren't showing the world Your goodness because we are stuck. We trust You today as we take this step in faith that You will have our back in every situation.

Lord, thank You for hearing the prayers of Your people even when we messed up. Forgive us of our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. Thank You for leading us forward to purpose. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen.

    Day 2

    Daily LIFT

Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.

    Exodus 14:31

One of my favorite shows as a child growing up was a show called Good Times. In this show, this hard-on-their-luck family living in the inner city of Chicago in the 1970s had one notable familial characteristic: they had both their mother and their father present in the home. One episode that I recall is when a bully by the name of Eddie was over, supposedly studying with Michael. I believe Eddie had stolen Michael's lunch money or something, but he was a very unruly kid.

While studying, Eddie decided that he didn't need to or want to study any longer. James, the father, took Eddie into the room and gave him a good spanking. After the spanking, there was some dialogue exchanged between Eddie and James, where James told Eddie his own kids would have gotten a lot worse.

Later on, Michael told Eddie that his father disciplined him worse but only because he cared. Eddie believed, and so did the children in the Evans household in the discipline and power of a caring father.

    Let us pray

Lord, increase faith today in us as we prepare to navigate the course of the day that You have established for us. Some of us are nervous because we know that we have to encounter certain Egyptians today or this week. Some of us have an encounter with a bully like Eddie, waiting for us as soon as we get to our first destination.

Remind us, heavenly Father, that You are a loving and caring Father who knows how to take care of Your children. Just as the Egyptians found out and believed because of how You protected Israel, protect us today that we believe You more and our problems and enemies believe as well.

We love You for loving us enough to discipline us when we are wrong. We praise You for making even our enemies behave. Please forgive our sins and heal our lands today. Protect the people of Ukraine and all in harm's way across the world today. In Jesus's name. Amen.

    Day 3

    Daily LIFT

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people and elders, if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well.

    Acts 4:8–10

There is one household cleaning item that, though simple, I find very fascinating. That item is the sponge. A sponge is most often used as a cleansing item and known for its strong absorption properties. A sponge, though dry, when placed in a liquid, will absorb whatever liquid it has been immersed in. The liquid, though not the sponge, fills the sponge and makes the flat dry sponge larger and heavier than normal. This sponge, now filled, with the slightest bit of pressure releases the contents of that which it has absorbed.

When Peter was put under extreme pressure for healing the man at the Beautiful Gate, the slightest pressure made that which he had absorbed come out. Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit, and when the pressure came, the Word of God came out, and Christ was proclaimed.

My question for you today is, what are you filled with? When you face even the slightest pressure, what comes out of you? Is it fear based or faith based? Is it Word based or world based?

    Let us pray

Lord, increase faith today in us
