Finding Your Chairs - Cindy Thomas
Who we are
(introduction)
If you think about it, we are constantly signing contracts. When you get an apartment, you sign a lease. When you subscribe to Netflix, you agree to pay a set monthly amount. When you rent a car, you sign a document that makes you liable for the vehicle. Similarly, when you get married, or sign a document of domestic partnership, you also enter into an agreement with the person you are going into contract with. Typically, all relationships have moments in which all parties make explicit agreements: to get married, to raise children, to start a business or buy a home. Once these conversations are over, people usually don’t revisit them unless something has significantly changed, or unless there is a glaring problem.
The problem, however, is people usually don’t revisit the contract of their relationship. They express vows and commitments to each other, and move forward, without the tools to check in to see if their original commitment is still
