    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

To my children, Steven, Shennelle, Trevor, and Jada; may your memories not just be of the challenging times but of the good as well. Thank you for understanding the meaning of true family teamwork. We helped dad and each other during this journey of grace. I love each and every one of you forever and always.

Thank you to my mother-in-law, Martha Ford, who did what any mother would do. Ms. Martha you gave Greg his flowers while he was living. I love you.

Thank you to my mother, Bonnie Bailey, who was my support system and rock for years. You are truly a Godsend. We love you very much.

A big thank you to all those who helped by giving their time, a listening ear, transportation to and from appointments, hospital visits, and financial assistance. May the Lord continue to bless you as you gave without question. My family will forever be grateful.

    GRACE

    A virtue coming from God

    ____________________

Theologically the word GRACE means the love and mercy given to us by God because God desires us to have it, not necessarily because of anything we have done to earn it.

Did you know that you or someone you know walks in grace every day, as a caregiver? Yes, grace is what carries you from day to day. This virtue comes from God and God alone.

This book is truly a story of grace. This virtue is what kept me when I cared for my late husband when I had no idea what to do.

No one imagines or dreams of being a caregiver to a loved one, however, when life happens this becomes reality. Realize that sickness can happen to anyone at any given moment and your life can and will shift drastically.

In this book, I want to share just a bit of my story and testimony of God’s grace that assisted me during my 14 years of caregiving.

My story of grace starts and ends with a love story. It tells of how God will reward your love sacrifice when you persevere as a caregiver.

During this journey I learned so many things about the inner part of myself I never knew existed.

If you are a caregiver to your spouse, child, parent, grandparent, aunt, or uncle (to name a few); you have been built for this journey. I am not saying the road is easy, but God entrusted them to you to be an extension of His love to your loved one. Not everyone can do what you do nor were they given the ability.

As you read this book you will find many truths that caregivers feel and face but don’t share because they are afraid to talk about it. Let’s give a voice to caregivers who are silently suffering as they love their loved ones.

    HANG IN THERE!

    DON’T GIVE UP!

    Would I – Should I Love Again?

    YEAR 2016

After the death of my late husband, Greg, I pondered whether or not I would let love into my heart again. I challenged myself by asking a hard question; would I, should I love again.

I invite you to take a peek into my love adventure with my husband Alex as I said yes to love again.

Are you ready to listen to my heart of emotions? Are you ready to go on this mental and emotional roller coaster ride? I know you are probably holding your breath in anticipation of what is to come in this chapter. RELAX – let me give you a little background before we jump into the meat of it all. Ok, ready or not, here we go.

I was a 42-year young woman, full of life, purpose, defining moments, and God only knows what else, were my thoughts. My children are all young adults except for one who was about to celebrate her Sweet Sixteen, and my husband just passed away. Hmmm, is it time to travel, time to get to KNOW who Tramona is and what she likes. I had so many sporadic thoughts daily. Remember my whole life had just shifted.

I realized I had lost myself in being a wife and a mother. I had no idea who I was; my identity was lost. Now I was being challenged with some hard, honest feelings that made me sick to my stomach followed by many tears hitting my
