    Noah's Neverland - David Camily

    Chapter One

The noontime summer sun was shining down on the streets of Remington City. Noah Easton felt the rumbling in his stomach. He knew he had to find something to eat and soon. How long had it been since the last time he ate? It was at the soup kitchen yesterday. They were always so kind to the homeless there. He looked around the parking lot. There was a guy standing near an ATM. His strawberry blond hair was pulled back in a ponytail. He was built and dressed in a pair of tight jeans that showed off his masculine figure.

Maybe, if Noah was quiet and lucky, he could pick his pocket and take the money to buy food. But how to do it? This was broad daylight. Surely someone would see what was going on and alert the man to his presence.

Noah took a deep breath. He didn’t seem to have any other options. The soup kitchen wasn’t open on Saturdays. He would have to scrounge to find food, and he was desperate. He didn’t want to have to raid the trash again. That was disgusting.

Noah moved closer to the man, who seemed oblivious to his presence. Careful not to make a sound, he tiptoed up to him and, as gingerly as possible, tried to insert his index finger and thumb into the man’s back pocket. He managed to barely touch the wallet when a hand came back and grabbed his wrist.

What do you think you’re doing? The man pulled Noah back around. Damn, busted!

I was just... I’m... Noah’s heart seized in his throat. Fuck!

The man’s face went from cold anger to caring in a moment, once his eyes swept over Noah.

When was the last time you ate, kiddo?

Noah Easton looked skeptically at the handsome older man. Noah knew he shouldn’t have tried to pick this guy’s pocket. What the hell had he been thinking? Dude looked like he could break Noah over a knee. And was it wrong Noah hoped he would? He had biceps and an ass that wouldn’t quit, especially in those tight black jeans. Sexy, scary bikers were just that—scary. But this guy was being so kind. Maybe that was the problem.

What’s your name? the man asked gently.

Noah. He bit his lip. Was the guy going to punch him? Was he going to call the police? I’m so screwed!

My name is James Dale. Nice to meet you, Noah.

Noah couldn’t believe this. Who was this man? If someone tried pickpocketing me, I’d—

So? Want to grab a bite to eat? My treat.

Probably best to humor him. He might be less likely to call the police. That’s the last thing Noah needed. The police would put him in jail. Hell, jail
