    Introduction: Sensitivity as a strength

High sensitivity is a personality trait that is often misunderstood. People who are highly sensitive have a higher perceptual ability and perceive stimuli more intensively than others. Sounds, smells, touch and visual impressions can quickly overwhelm highly sensitive people and they need more time to recover. Highly sensitive children are usually especially sensitive and can be quickly affected by external influences. But although high sensitivity is often seen as a limitation, it can also be used as a strength.

In our society, the value of sensitivity and empathy is often underestimated. Strength and success are often equated with assertiveness, determination and self-confidence. However, highly sensitive people have a different kind of strength that is often overlooked in our fast-paced and often noisy world. They have the ability to perceive subtle differences and respond to subtle signals. They are often very empathetic and have a high emotional intelligence that enables them to empathize with others and understand their needs.

Highly sensitive children can have difficulties at school or in social settings because they can quickly become overwhelmed by the stimuli of their environment. Teachers and parents can often perceive them as oversensitive or weak and make them feel that they are not normal. This can make highly sensitive children feel isolated and misunderstood. But there are also many positive aspects of high sensitivity that are often overlooked.

Highly sensitive children are often very creative and have a strong imagination. They can empathize with others and have a deep understanding of the feelings of others. They often have a special relationship with nature and can hold deep conversations. They have a keen sense of moods and atmospheres and can react quickly to changes. They can also be very determined and often have a high motivation to achieve their goals.

In this book we would like to shed light on the special personality of highly sensitive children and show how it can be used as a strength. We want to help parents and teachers to better understand and support their children and show them how to promote their special abilities. We want to encourage highly sensitive children and show them that they are not alone and that their sensitivity is a valuable quality that they can use successfully in life. We want to create a world that makes room for sensitivity and empathy and that recognizes and appreciates the value of high sensitivity.
