The big mess and the minimalist ray of hope

Imagine waking up in the morning and urgently needing to get to work or an important appointment. The alarm clock rings, you jump out of bed and then it happens: the desperate search for that one pair of shoes, your keys or - in the age of technology - your cell phone. How can it be that all these things that we use every day are always hiding in the clutter of our own four walls?

Once upon a time there was a wardrobe full of clothes, some of which have never seen the light of day. There may even be an item of clothing with a price tag that you bought two years ago. And then there's the infamous drawer - you know, the drawer that holds all sorts of things, from old batteries to unused gadgets to mysterious keys that no one knows what they belong to.

This chaos that reigns in so many households is more than just a collection of things. It is the visible sign of our inner disorder, our inability to prioritize, our constant striving for more without really knowing why. We live in a society that constantly tells us that more is better. More clothes, more gadgets, more furniture, more of everything. But in the midst of this abundance, we often lose sight of what really matters.

But in the midst of all the chaos, there it is: the minimalist ray of hope. It sparkles at us like a precious pearl in a pile of gravel. Minimalism is not just a fad or a trend in interior design. It is a philosophy, a lifestyle that aims to do away with the superfluous and appreciate the essentials.

Think back to your last vacation when you only traveled with hand luggage. Do you remember the feeling of freedom, not being weighed down by luggage? The simple pleasure of being able to choose between just a few outfits every morning? That's the taste of minimalism: simplifying your life, getting rid of clutter and creating more space for what really matters.

You could say that minimalism is like a detox for the soul. It's not just about getting rid of material things, but also about freeing the mind from the many distractions, obligations and noise of the modern world. It is an invitation to pause and reflect on what really makes us happy.

It is important to emphasize that minimalism does not mean throwing everything away and living in an empty space. It's not about giving up things that you love or that serve a purpose. Rather, it is about making conscious decisions about what belongs in our lives and what does not. It's the art of saying no to make room for a bigger yes.

While chaos rages around us and we lose ourselves in a sea of things, minimalism gives us a map, a compass and a clear direction. It reminds us that life is not about how much we have, but how much we enjoy. It is the first step towards a more conscious and fulfilling life, where every moment counts.

The lost remote control: why minimalism?

Who would have thought that a lost remote control has the potential to raise deep philosophical questions about our lives and our priorities? But that's exactly what it does! Imagine it's Sunday evening, you're snuggled up in your cozy blanket and ready to watch the latest episode of your favorite show. But where is the remote control? Between the cushions? No. Under the sofa? Neither. Maybe in the fridge, because in a moment of mental absence...? Oh, that only happens to me? Right, back to the topic.

The lost remote may be a minor annoyance in everyday life, but it is a microcosm of the bigger challenges we face in this fast-paced, cluttered world. It represents the chaos and abundance of things we acquire, often without really thinking about whether we need them or not.

But why does this happen to us? Why do we fill our homes, our lives and sometimes even our minds with so many things? The truth is that we often believe that material possessions give us happiness, security or even status in society. The problem is that all these things - be it the tenth pair of black trousers we buy or the latest smartphone, even though the old one still works - only give us temporary satisfaction. And then? Then we're back on the hunt for the next thing that will finally make us complete and satisfied.

But the lost remote control teaches us something else. It tells us that too many things not only take up physical space in our home, but also mental space. Every time we have to search for something we can't find, we waste not only time but also energy. Energy that we could use for more creative, fulfilling or simply more relaxing activities.

This is where minimalism comes in. The philosophy of minimalism assumes that less is often more. By freeing ourselves from things that we no longer need or that no longer serve us, we create space for what really matters. It's not about doing without or living ascetically. It's about making conscious decisions.

It's like painting a picture. An artist knows that it is not only the lines and colors that make up a picture, but also the empty
