About this ebook

"Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:"

-Jeremiah 32:17

God our creator, who gives us the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat. Do you ever think about where all this comes from? In the beginning, God created heaven and earth, land, waters, sky above, trees, plant life, birds, animals, fruit trees, insects, the grass we walk on, the sun that warms the earth, and the full moon for lovers of all ages. God did all this so we could have life. I never thought about any of this until I started writing this book. I was so busy with my everyday life-going to work or school, playing golf and tennis, fishing, hunting, and a thousand other things I would do. I have to stop and thank God for all I have-my health, two children, three grandchildren, and my mom who is eighty-eight years young. It is never too late to get down on your knees and thank God for all he has given us. God is awesome!

On the seventh day God rested!

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer."

-Psalms 19:14

Who Created the Heaven and Earth?

My name is Micheal Lee Kennedy. I’m not a writer or anything at all, and I’m not a theologian. I’m sort of a man you would call jack-of-all-trades and a master of nothing. Hell, I still don’t understand how I graduated from high school. My grades were mostly Ds and maybe a C now and then if I was lucky. I have to say all my life I’ve taken shortcuts on almost everything I did in life. I wasn’t lazy in school; I just didn’t read a single book during my school years. I took some notes, and that was enough for me. I really don’t know why I didn’t study or read a book in school. I just didn’t study. My first mistake in school was taking shortcuts. Short cuts will take you down the wrong path.

Two weeks before graduation, I got mad at a teacher and walked out of school. I was so mad I didn’t get in my car. I just started walking, and I found myself in town and standing in front of a sign that read, Uncle Sam wants you. I didn’t even think about it. I just went inside and joined the Army. I did graduate with my class, but to this day I have no idea how that happened, but I did get my high school diploma in 1974. After graduation, I started thinking about the Army. What did I do to myself? In the heat of the moment, I signed a three-year contract to be in the Army. I learned a few things in the Army, and one of them is you can’t take shortcuts. When my three years was up, I had an opportunity to re-up for six years. I turned it down-another mistake I made. It didn’t stop me from making another mistake. I received an honorable discharge from the Army. One of the benefits I got from the Army was ten years of free money to go to college. I went to college for three years and didn’t graduate. You guess it. I tried to take shortcuts in college, just like in high school. That didn’t work, so I dropped out. I didn’t want to put in the work to pass the classes. I have the utmost respect for the boys and girls who do put in the work and graduate from college. What I have learned is whatever you choose to do in your life, give it 100 percent of yourself—mind, body, and spirit. Let’s back up about a year before I joined the Army.

I was in church one Sunday morning and went up front and kneeled down and asked Jesus to come into my life and to forgive me of my sins. I was eighteen. I remember a man came over to me and asked me, "Are you saved? Are you sure you will go to heaven when you die? God says in order to go to heaven, one must be born again."

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:17)

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Romans 10:9)

I told him that I believed everything he had just said and I asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins. He said, "Pray this prayer with me: Oh, God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus was my substitute when he died on the cross. I believe his shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me. I now receive him as my Savior. I thank you for the forgiveness of my sins and the gift of salvation and everlasting life, because of your merciful grace. Amen." He said the next step is to be baptized in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ as a public testimony of your salvation and then unite with a Bible-believing church without delay. A week later I was baptized.

I found these verses later in life. I wished I knew them back when I was young. Maybe I wouldn’t have made so many mistakes in my life.

I hope these verses will help you get through anything that comes your way:

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13)

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all the ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear the Lord, and depart from evil. (Proverbs 3:5–7)

There are many verses in the Bible that will help you if you only take the time to study the Bible one to two hours a day. God gives us twenty-four hours in a day. Surely, we can give God one or two hours of our time. You will be blessed for it.

In my younger years, I did not follow any of these instructions from God. I’m here to tell you doing it my (your) way is not the best way. Get saved and go to a Bible-believing church and read and study God’s Word every day of your life. It’s not too late to make a change in your life. Every morning we wake up is a new beginning.

What we do with the new day is up to us!

I can tell you when you become a parent, you cannot take shortcuts. I did the best I knew how to raise my two children. I took them to the doctors, school, and church. And they both got saved and baptized. I fed them, clothed them, put a roof over their heads, and took them on vacations. We went hiking in the mountains and fishing. I took my son hunting. I played games with them. I tried to help them with their homework. And taking shortcuts didn’t work. I left my children’s education up to the school system and the teachers. I did just basic stuff as a parent did, nothing fancy. I thought that was all there was to it. I was so wrong. I don’t remember sitting down with my daughter and son and just talking to them, about their day, school, or anything. I failed my children miserably. I didn’t read the Bible to them; I didn’t pray with them. I was a bad example of a Christian dad, mostly because I didn’t know how to be a Christian dad myself. I didn’t read the Bible myself. That was another mistake I made in my life. I thought I was doing all the right things a parent would do-keeping a roof over their heads, food on the table, and clothes on their backs, getting them off to school, and taking them to church on Sunday mornings. I loved my children. But I didn’t teach them about Jesus and his Father and the men in the Bible, like Paul, David, Joseph, Moses, Matthew, Noah, Peter, John, and so many others. I didn’t teach them about the books of Psalms and Proverbs. I left that up to the preacher and Sunday school teachers.

Being a parent is the hardest job you will ever have in your life. You will always second-guess yourself if you are doing the right thing or not. I know I made a lot of mistakes in raising my children. I found out that raising children is a learning experience every hour of each day and every day of my life. I can tell you as a parent you will make mistakes raising your children. The only advice I can give to young parents and old parents is to learn from your mistakes and don’t repeat them. Most important is loving your children, giving them a hug every day, and telling them each day you love them from your heart. One thing you can do as a parent is reading and studying the Bible yourself. Then read the Bible to your children, pray with them, and take them to church. I have learned that the Bible is the guide to teaching parents how to be parents and how to raise their children. Here are some Bible verses that will help you in raising your children. I wish I used these verses to help me raise my children. Another mistake I made. Anyway, I hope these verses will help:

Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old: Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they
