About this ebook

December 6, 2017 I'm in Church. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed; it is the season of Advent, and the alter is decorated in purple it is so beautiful! The peace it brings when I look at it, is what life is all about. It's not about me or you! It's about Jesus! Step aside! Let His light shine for all the world to see. As I look up at the stained glass window to the right of the cross hanging, I see the words "You did it." I had just finished this book and emailed a copy to this publisher. Now I have to wait and see if they are going to publish it. I was really nervous; it's not every day you let the world in on your sinful ways! Writing this book was the hardest thing I have ever done. On seeing those words, I knew I was obedient to what God had ask me to do: write the book. Whatever happens after this is in God's hands. This book ends as it started: trusting, believing and living by the Word of God. At age twenty-five, I had finally had enough of my messed-up life. Nothing was working - my car was repossessed; I found out my boyfriend was living with another woman; my roommate just up and left; I had no money; my heat was shut off; I was behind on my mortgage; and I hated my job. I went into my roommate's empty room and cried. I got on my knees and prayed to God to help me. When I woke up the next day, I didn't feel the same way. I felt God's presence in my life. God never leaves us; we leave him. I was the one missing in the relationship. I kicked God out of my life when I chose sin over Him. I had a new beginning. I was born again, and I was going to start living by the Word of God. The best thing I ever did!

    Acknowledgments

First, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for dying on the cross for my sins, for loving me when I didn’t love myself, waiting patiently for me to come back to Him, and encouraging me to write this book.

To my husband, John, my best friend, who has always given me unconditional love and support throughout our marriage.

To my best friend, Kim Hasty, whom I have had the privilege to know since seventh grade. I can’t thank her enough for all she has done to help me with this book, from correcting my spelling, photography, and giving of her time, talent, and self. Thank you, Kim, for all your support!

To a couple of awesome friends Barb and Paula who stepped in on short notice to proofread and correct my book. Thank you! I am now confident it is error free.

I would like to thank Arnold Hall in Pembroke, the priests, and to all the women who have attended. You have all nurtured my spiritual growth.

I would like to thank Kevin Mossman, who taught me a lot about my faith in the time I was a confirmation teacher and through all the prayer groups that he facilitated. These groups and other prayer groups have kept me moving forward in my faith journey.

To my children, Mom, Dad, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends—you have all brought joy to my life and have contributed to who I am today.

I am so blessed to have so many people in my life who have been instrumental in my journey. To all of you, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul.

I attend daily Masses in my area. Thank you to all the priests and deacons who have shared the unconditional love of Jesus. The altar at St. Helen’s Church in Norwell is so beautiful; we wanted to use it for the cover of the book. Thank you to Father Chris for allowing us to do so.

    Foreword

You may think while reading this book that it is a story about the life of Kathy, but it is about the love of Jesus. The reason He came was to save me, a sinner, and you also a sinner, if we let Him. We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. We need our savior Jesus to set us free and bring us to life everlasting. This is why Jesus came into the world—not to condemn it, but to save his people.

As I looked back through my life, I could see all the times Jesus was there helping me, carrying me, and talking to me. All I had to do was take the time and listen and do what he said. Just as Mary said to the waiters at the wedding feast in Cana, before Jesus turned the water into wine, Do whatever He tells you to do. If we do the same, miracles will happen, and we will live a life of inner peace. Just like this book; for years, He has been telling me to write this book. At first, I was excited to start writing; I had been journaling most of my adult life. Then Satan started getting into my head, telling me, You can’t write a book. You can’t even spell—and who wants to read your story anyway?

I kept making up excuses and finding other things to keep me too busy to write. I kept asking God, What do you want me to do with my life? I felt like my life was at a standstill, and feeling a little lost, I still knew I wanted to do God’s will. God just kept saying, Write the book. It was difficult to write about my thoughts and life experiences. God, in his awesome way, let me know that I was writing about His unconditional love for a world that desperately needs it. This is not my story; it is all of our stories. The sins may be different, but the results are the same: separation from God. We are all looking, searching, and longing for peace, which is the presence of God in our life. We all know how it all started … In the beginning was the word and the word was God and ending with God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever believes in him would not die but have everlasting life. It’s the middle—the living our life part we mixed up with our free will. Jesus said, Come follow me. Are you? I think that our pain, suffering, and bad choices in this world can help lead us to Jesus; I know mine did. What Satan intended for evil, God transformed into good. I am the way, the truth, and the life, said Jesus. Whoever believes in me will not perish but have everlasting life. We need to always remember that each and every one of us is a child of God and that Jesus lives in all of us. My prayer is that, in reading this book, you find the unconditional love of Jesus our Lord and Savior.

    God bless you!

    First Things First

So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect. Mt 5:48

Get right with God! This means you will have to go back through your life, like watching a movie. You are the main character, but you will not be watching it alone; God will be viewing it with you. God will point out things that you need to fix, change, or repent and make right according to his Word. This will take time, even years, but don’t worry; you will be spending time with God and that’s time well spent.

God made you in His image and likeness. God knows you inside and out. He created you to be one with Him; there is a place in your heart that only God can fill. He made it that way, so stop trying to fit other people,
