    Dedication

First and foremost, I dedicate this work to Jesus. Had it not been for his grace and mercy, I wouldn’t be where I am today. May Christ get all the honor and glory.

I also dedicate this book to my mom, Christy; my two sisters, Ashlin and Madalin; and my brother, Colton. Without being placed in each one of your lives, I don’t believe I would have learned all that Christ has taught me. Thank you for that. Although not one of us necessarily deserves what we have been dealt, thank you for walking hand in hand with me as we’ve been through the fire together. I am immensely proud of you all. Stay strong, live for Jesus, and know that I love you!

I would also like to give a huge shout-out to my wonderful husband who has seen me at my very worst and has only ever encouraged me to accomplish what I think to be impossible. Thank you for preaching Jesus and for standing by my side through the good and the bad. I love you, Levi!

To my nana and papa. I want to thank you for always praying for me, believing in me, and thinking I’m an angel. I promise you I’m not, but because you both have confidence in me, it only has made me strive to be a better Christian. Thank you both for being godly examples and for showing me how living for Jesus is worth it! I love you both.

Last but not least, I would like to dedicate this book to every single person who decides to read through the skinny chapters I have pinned down. May you be able to take everything that God has taught me and use it in your own lives. I pray Christ is exalted in your life, and each one of you is used mightily for Jesus. Thank you for taking the time to read. I am praying for each one of you!

    Love,

    Brooklin

    Preface

Iremember from a very early age knowing that I wanted to do something mightily for Jesus. Missionaries would come to our church, and I would be so engrossed with what they were saying that it consumed me. I would sit and think about how I would be able to go and spread the gospel and the love of Jesus to others. I remember saying to my mom I want to do missionary work, but how can someone little like me do anything? She would just encourage me to live for Jesus where I was in this stage of life and constantly remind me that God would give me the desires of my heart. As I got older, my love for spreading the gospel moved into the love of music, and I began singing. No, I am not a professional singer by any means, but the Lord used my voice to spread his love to so many different people as I grew up. By lifting up my voice in song to him, all the while still feeling a great desire to do something huge for Jesus, I began to feel like I was wasting my time—time that could be valuable to the Lord if only I knew what he created me to be. Fast-forward to my teen years, I still had a burning desire for Jesus but started to understand that God was going to use me for his purpose and his plan—in his timing, not mine. I started dating. This is where a lot of people’s stories could totally be ruined, but, God in his mercy and sweet grace, preserved me. I held myself to a high standard when I began to like someone. Overall, I wanted a man who was a saved and dedicated Christian. I could tell plenty of stories about the journey to this part of my story, but it’s not of the utmost importance. The most important thing is that God has given me the desires of my heart. He did have a great purpose for my life; it just wasn’t exactly when I expected it to be. From the time I decided to follow Christ until today, I had no clue what all God was going to take me through and show me to get me to this point. All I know is that serving Jesus is very serious. Had I not accepted Jesus into my life young, there’s no telling where I would be today.

    The Severity of Serving Jesus

For the longest time, I have searched for God’s ultimate purpose. Little did I know I was already doing much of what God had placed me on earth to do—to be a daughter; and most importantly, to be the oldest daughter was my first purpose.

God placed me here to be an example. He decided that I would be born first for a reason. That reason being, my siblings would need someone to go first, to pave the way, and to show them how it is to be
