PREFACE
The average life expectancy in the United States is 76.1 years, according to 2022 data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Many of us strive daily to stay healthy so we too can reach or, even better, surpass the national average. As the author of Tips on Staying Alive, I have used my own life experience as the framework to tell the story of the amazing technological advances that are in development or have already been released that are helping to extend human life.
During my time writing this book, I was asked several times, What is your target audience for this book?
My answer was, This book is for anyone who wants to continue living.
And since nearly everyone has a strong desire to stay alive for as long as possible, this guide should be of interest to a large audience. While I will share my health journey, this book is not about me, but it is about you.

Of all the different illnesses and sicknesses that we know about, cancer is the word that everyone seems to fear the most. In Tips on Staying Alive,
I’ll share with you the good fortune of my kidney cancer, of which I have survived now for 10 years. In the Appendix, I have included websites that will help you do your own research on any of the various optional tests available to you for consideration.
