About the Author
I had the privilege to read Death Can Wait: How I Beat Stage IV Cancer Naturally.
First, I love reading people’s success stories, especially when it comes to health. Second, I am all for natural remedies and helping our bodies to heal themselves as they were intended to.
Working in emergency rooms for the past thirteen years has made me realize that we rely on medical science way too much without asking questions about medications, and their ability to treat and cure. It seems that for all ailments, there is always a pill or pills as an answer. If the drugs have side effects, then there’s another prescription to address the issue. The more I’ve worked in the fast-paced ERs, the more I have realized that we keep treating, not curing. We’re also sending the wrong message by prescribing medicines that help mask the symptoms without addressing the cause. We’re enabling people to use medications as an excuse to continue with their unhealthy habits. Think about the diabetics who take their medicine and then indulge in sodas and sweets thinking that the disease has no more effect on them. We often fail people by not talking about the importance of balance in their lifestyle and daily habits. I have cared for countless patients with numerous comorbidities (diseases), only to be diagnosed with yet another disease, or the worst of all: cancer. Cancer has a dreaded sound to its name. Many of us think it rhymes with death. Indeed, it is a very scary word.
