About this ebook

Over the past many years, many (thousands!) cancer patients had come to seek our help and advice. They wanted to know what else they could do, generally after modern medicine had failed them. Most of these patients were totally ignorant of what they were up against. In cancer, it is worth noting that ignorance kills. To be able to find healing, patients should realise that they must do something for themselves, not to rely entirely on others to help them. At this point, we are reminded of our friend (and patient) S.K. He had metastatic liver cancer. He said: I saw the oncologist. He told me to do the chemo. When I saw everybody do chemo, everybody do radiotherapy, I told myself this must be the only way. I went back to the doctor and asked him to do the chemo on me. S.K. underwent both chemotherapy and radiotherapy. He did not get well but instead ended up with three more tumours in his liver. And they were growing in size. SK told me, I knew then that I had taken the wrong path. I started to find other ways.

    Preface

Ignorance is the failure to learn – the refusal to see truth when the opportunity is offered ~ Edward Bach

This book, Cancer – Is There Another Option? is our first book in a series of books that I shall be writing under the general title of Is There Another Option? Why do I write this? Primarily to satisfy the needs of those patients who write or come to see me after they are being told that they have cancer.

The standard recipe of present day cancer treatments comes in different combinations of surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and oral drugs of some sort. This is sometimes referred to as slash, poison and burning method of treatment. Many people say the treatment is worse than the disease and many patients died because of the treatment rather than their cancer. Some authors even went to the extent of saying that present day cancer treatment with highly toxic drugs is crude and is probably the most barbaric in modern medicine. Those who have undergone these treatments may understand what I am saying. Those who have not undergone them yet may not but the observant ones may have heard or learnt about it from the experiences of others. These patients now want to know if there is another option for them. My answer is: Yes, there is another option.

In this book, I have shared with you stories of eleven patients who are from Africa, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New Zealand, Switzerland, United States of America and of course my fellow Malaysians. It appears to me that patients from every corner of the world do look for alternative treatment for their cancer. I hope by reading what I wrote, patients can find answers to the many questions they often ask, such as: I have been diagnosed with cancer, what do I do now? What is your experience in treating this or that cancer? What evidence do you have to show that the treatment is effective? I hope you will not only find the answers you seek but also learn something from the experiences of others.

Over the past many years, many (thousands!) cancer patients had come to seek our help and advice. They wanted to know what else they could do, generally after modern medicine had failed them. Most of these patients were totally ignorant of what they were up against. Many think that they could easily find a cure for their cancers. They come seeking for that non-existent magic bullet for their cancer. Alas! Many failed to find a cure. At CA Care we don’t talk about cure, because we do not see a cure for any cancer. But we see healing. Healing comes from within, not from the outside. Patients have to learn how to heal themselves.

So, S.K. set out on his own healing journey, following the so-called unproven path and found relief. Not all patients are like S.K. and not all patients are as wise as S.K., who knew that he had to get out of the box and seek new hope elsewhere.

Han (not real name) was stricken with colon cancer that had metastasised to his liver. He underwent an operation to remove the diseased colon. Upon hearing this, I called him at his home and asked if I could help in anyway. In fact, by doing this I had violated my own code of ethics. I generally do not do such a thing, lest I be accused of trying to promote my therapy. But, Han was my classmate way back in the 1960s. I provided Han with all the information he wanted to know about his disease and started him on herbs. After his surgery, his doctor recommended chemotherapy which he readily agreed. I respected his decision. Han went through twelve cycles of chemotherapy, unlike most patients who do six cycles only. But the tumour in his liver remained the same. The doctor tried RFA (radiofrequency ablation) on him and this did not work either. As a last resort, he was asked to go for a liver surgery. This time, Han declined! He had learnt his lesson. Many patients are like Han. They would not believe what others have experienced. They have to experience failures for themselves first before they would believe. No doubt, it is a harder way of learning.

When I was in school my teacher taught me: There is no greater fool than a fool who does not know that he is a fool. I still remember what I was taught to this day. In life, we often make mistakes. That is inevitable and it is alright. It is a part of living our lives. It is also alright to make the same mistake twice. But only a real fool would keep on making the same mistake over and over again.

One stumbling block to healing is complacency. The dictionary defines complacency as a feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger or controversy. Complacency occurs most of the time among cancer patients. These patients, when they are seriously ill or dying, generally do not hesitate to follow our advice. But as they get better, they forget all that we have taught them. They would go back to their old ways. Unfortunately, cancer does not go away easily and no one is able to cure it easily too. Be reminded, if and when we feel well, we must continue to perpetuate that wellness so that we can continue to live a normal and meaningful life. Unfortunately, to most people, a meaningful life means going back to their old lifestyles and eat whatever they like! Generally, within two to three months, their cancer recurred. We have seen this happened over and over again. This observation led us to believe that at present there is no such thing as a permanent cure for cancer.

It is you and only you alone, who have the Power Within to cure yourself. So, your life is in your own hands.

Over the years, we learned that we cannot change people. People can change only if they themselves want to. Aptly put, only you can change yourself. We cannot change you. We can only help you understand by providing whatever information you need to know.

Over the years we have learned that not all patients who come to us would benefit from our therapy. Only 30 percent of the patients come with the correct attitude and would find their healing. Others come to seek an easy or magic cure that never exists. Most patients want to find a cure on their own terms. They are not prepared to make sacrifices. Taking our herbs and following our holistic ways is not an easy journey. The prescribed herbs need to be boiled. The taste and smell can be awful to some people. Patients are told to avoid meat, dairy products, refined sugars, table salt and trans-fats in their diet. Such requirements seem to be overbearing for most people. Only those who wish to help themselves benefit from our therapy. When you get cancer, it calls for a sincere commitment on your part to make changes – a change in lifestyle, diet and the way you look at life. Are you ready for it? Herbs by themselves do not cure cancer. It is this holistic approach to rebuild and rejuvenate your body from within that enables you to regain your health and heal yourself.

We also learned that for those who want to believe, there is no need for too much explanation or proof. But for those who do not wish to believe, no matter what evidence is provided, it is never enough. There is always something not right about it and there is always a reason to reject it.

Life on earth is a learning experience. Whatever happens each day is an opportunity to learn. We only stop learning the day we die! However, there are others who view learning differently. To them, learning takes place only in schools or in the universities. What is not taught by their teachers or professors they need not have to know! Some would regard what they were not taught as unproven knowledge. Some others go to the extreme, believing that only what they have been taught is correct or is the whole truth, all else is nonsense or trash.

Another stumbling block to learning is ego and arrogance. And all of us have both – the only difference is the extent. Life is the best teacher. If we are not prepared to learn or see, we miss the lessons that Life teaches us. We need to increase our level of consciousness and lower the level of ego and arrogance within us to see what Life has in store for us. In short, for us to be able to learn the truth we must humble ourselves and be willing to learn at all times and in all circumstances.

Why do you read this book?

We believe you are seeking information to enable you or your loved ones to make certain decisions. Our advice is: Read as much as possible. Gather information from different sources. You will not learn much if you confine your reading about a subject only from one viewpoint. Cast your net wider and read what others from different disciplines have to say about the same subject. Get out of the box and view your problem in a different light. Think and look out for any ulterior motives of the writer. Is he putting your interest first, or is he doing it just to serve his own self-interest? Is he after your cancer or your money? Check and counter check the facts given. Often, in the face of fear, hopelessness and panic we forget to use our commonsense.

Calm down and take it easy. Only then can you make a wise decision. A decision made in haste or under pressure is never a good decision. After having made a decision that you are comfortable with, do not ever look back and blame yourself or others, if somehow that decision does not give you the desired outcome. Take comfort that you have done your best and the decision you had taken was based on the best information available to you at that point in time. Never ever regret and say: Oh, I should or should not have done this or that. Do not dwell in the past. Look forward to the future, for this is what matters. Understandably, to be able to face up to the challenges in time of need, calls for courage to change and to act on your part.

    Our hands but God heals.

Chapter 1: My Confession – Let the Truth Be Told

He who acts upon what he knows, the Creator will give him what he does not know.

Let me start by stating that I am not a medical doctor. I am a Ph.D. After high school I went to College of Agriculture Malaya at Serdang to take up a diploma course in agriculture. This was the time when I learned how to grow plants and rear animals – feed the pigs and milk the cows. It was a good start – learning what life is all about and how to manage it. It was in Serdang that I first learned about economics and management. From Serdang, I proceeded to University of Malaya – then, the only university in Malaysia. I spent another four years as an undergraduate student there. I worked hard and I excelled. I graduated with honours. Then, I was one of the two from Malaysia to be awarded an East-West Center scholarship to study at the University of Hawaii. It was in Hawaii that I learned to be a scientist. Within three years, I obtained my MS and Ph.D. degrees. I came
