Introduction
Each of us has had an epiphany moment that changed our perspective.
It changed our lives.
Two breast cancer diagnoses and a rare primary brain tumor diagnosis did that for me. Getting outside reminds me to be in the moment. I’m still here and can still do it.
Invest in yourself. Invest in your health.
Just because something is good for you doesn’t mean it’s easy.
Exercising doesn’t sound fun or sexy to most people.
They don’t enjoy it because it can be challenging, takes time and commitment, and maybe they don’t like to sweat.
I enjoy exercise and do it because afterward I generally feel better and happier, especially trail running or hiking.
Any activity outside gets my smile going.
The purpose of this book is to motivate you to move and to improve your overall well-being. This is especially important after dealing with a health issue and is a

component of a proactive approach to wellness. (You will be more consistent if it’s an activity you like overall.) Maybe you feel like exercise is just another boring thing on your to-do list.
Not everyone is born a superhero or athlete. If you’re ready to kick your health into shape, we can join forces to unlock the power of movement.
Welcome to Move For You.
This book will help you find your inner athlete—or at least your inner person who goes for a walk occasionally.
I’m excited that you’re here because, let’s face it, we could all use a little movement in our lives.
I know what you’re thinking. Exercise? Ugh. No, thank you.
For some people, the word exercise conjures images of slogging away on a treadmill while staring at a blank wall or lifting weights in an overcrowded gym.
That’s not what this book is about.
Move For You is about finding happiness in movement.
It’s about discovering the type of activity that lights you up. Maybe it’s hiking in the mountains, dancing in your living room, or trying a new fitness class with friends.
Whatever it is, I promise you—once you find it, you’ll wonder why you thought exercise was boring.
But more than just being a way to have fun and blow off steam, exercise is also a powerful tool for healing.
Introduction
iii
My health issues reminded me to focus on what was important—learn what I liked to do the most—and have the energy to be there for my family.
A strong foundation is needed to live a healthy life.
Three essential pillars should not be ignored: movement, nutrition, and rest/sleep. These pillars are interconnected and support each other in promoting optimal health and well-being. Focusing on these areas can create a powerful synergy to help you feel your best.
Think of these pillars as the Avengers, the Justice League, or even the Spice Girls. Each person on the team is important in their own right, but when they come together, they are a force to be reckoned with!
I can’t promise that reading this book will turn you into a superhero or a pop icon, but I can guarantee it will provide you with the tools and knowledge you need to take control of your health and well-being.
Regular exercise helps improve your physical health and mental health by reducing stress and anxiety, and boosting mood and cognitive function. Movement helps your body heal. It also is connected to better sleep.
Exercise is the one thing that people often struggle with the most. It can feel like a chore or burden rather than a source of joy and strength.
Move For You aims to help you find joy in movement.
iv
Move for you
Because when you find an activity you genuinely enjoy, exercise becomes a celebration of what your body is capable of.
And that’s something worth celebrating.
You’ll learn how to set realistic goals, stay motivated, and overcome common barriers to exercise, such as time constraints and self-doubt. With the right mindset and helpful tips, I believe anyone can incorporate movement into their life in a joyful and sustainable way.
Whether you’re already a fitness guru or a couch potato, this book will provide the tools and knowledge you
