WHAT IS JOY? HOW CAN we experience it and express it in our daily lives? Why is joy important for us as Christians? These are some of the questions that this book will try to answer.

Joy is a word that we often use, but rarely define. We may associate joy with happiness, but they are not the same. Happiness is a feeling that depends on our circumstances, our mood, and our expectations. Happiness can come and go, depending on what happens to us or around us. Happiness can be influenced by many factors, such as our health, wealth, relationships, achievements, and pleasures.

Joy, on the other hand, is more than a feeling. Joy is a deep and lasting satisfaction and delight that we have in God and His salvation, regardless of our circumstances. Joy is a gift from God, a fruit of the Spirit, a reward of His service, a foretaste of His kingdom, a sign of His favor, a testimony of His power, and a motivation for His mission. Joy is not influenced by external factors, but by internal factors, such as our faith, hope, and love in God. Joy does not come and go, but remains and grows in us as we know God more, love Him more, and serve Him more.

Joy is an important Christian value because it reflects God’s character and glory. God is the source of all joy, and He delights in His own being and works.
