Photo editing

Photos app is used to view, edit, compare, create albums and make movies of your special memories. It also allows you to apply different types of effects on your photos and videos.

Starting Photos App

To start Photos app, follow the given steps:

Opening a Photo for Editing

You need to import photos from your computer to Photos app to edit them. To edit photos in the Photos app, follow the given steps:

Cropping, Rotating and Flipping Photos

Cropping means removing the useless portion of the photo. Rotating means changing the position of a photo at different angles. Flipping means getting the mirror image of the photo either horizontally or vertically.

To crop a photo: Open the photo in editing mode. Four small circles appear at the four corners of the photo. These circles are known as crop handles. With the help of these crop handles, you can crop a portion of a photo. However, you can also crop the photo from any edge of the photo.

To rotate a photo: Click on the Rotate button to rotate the photo in any direction.

To flip a photo: Click on the Flip button to flip the photo.

Applying Filters to a Photo

Filters are the special effects that can change the appearance of a photo by modifying its shades and colours. To apply filters to a photo, follow the given steps:

You can also change the intensity of the applied filter by moving the Filter intensity slider.

Adjusting Brightness/Contrast

The Adjustments feature is used to make minor changes or touch up blemishes in a photo like increase/decrease brightness and contrast of a photo, remove dark spots, increase/decrease clarity, remove red eyes and adjust the colours of a photo.

Video Editing

Video editing means to add/remove some content in an existing video or apply some effects to the video.

Opening a Video for Editing

To edit a video in Photos app, you need to open the Video Editor of the Photos app. To do so, perform the following steps:

The video is placed in the storyboard. Storyboard is a horizontal bar containing various options to edit the video. With the help of these options, you can perform different types of operations on the video like add a title card, trim or split a video, add text, motion, etc.
