File Explorer

File Explorer plays an important role in Windows 10. We can view files and folders in a hierarchical order. We can move, rename, and delete files easily in File Explorer.

To open File Explorer, follow the given steps:

Components of File Explorer

Following are the components of File Explorer:

Ribbon: It is located just below the Title bar and it contains different options or commands grouped as tabs such as File, Home, Share and View tab.

Address Bar: It displays the location of the hard drive that is currently being viewed within File Explorer.

Navigation Pane: It is usually present on the left side of the window depending on your computer’s settings. It can be used to quickly jump between libraries and folders.

Right pane: It displays the contents of the file or folder selected from the Navigation Pane. We can also preview the contents of a file on the right pane without opening it.

Viewing Files and Folders

We can view all the files that were created, downloaded and copied from other sources on the computer. There are five main folders in Windows 10 in which the files are saved by default. They are——Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos and Downloads.

To work on these files, we need to open the File Explorer window to view them.

Color Settings in Windows 10

Windows 10 allows us to change the color settings for the Start menu and the taskbar. To change the colour settings, follow the given steps:

Control Panel

Control Panel is used to control and modify many features of Windows 10 on your computer. To open the Control Panel window, follow these steps:

The Control Panel window provides options for different hardware and software settings. Some of the important computer settings and their uses are:

System and Security: It is used for setting the overall operations and security of Windows 10.

Hardware and Sound: It is used to adjust the settings of all hardware devices attached to your computer like keyboard, printer, mouse, etc. It is also used to control the sound settings of the computer.

Programs: It is used to install or uninstall programs and software on the computer.

Appearance and Personalization: It is used to adjust the visual effects of your computer like how the Start menu and desktop should look, etc.

Clock and Region: It is used to change the date, time and language settings of your computer. It is also used to change the region where the computer is being used.

Disk Cleanup

Disk Cleanup tool is used to delete the files and clean the hard disk of the computer without affecting its functions. It deletes files like:

Temporary internet files

Recycle Bin if it is not empty

Temporary windows files

To run the Disk Cleanup, follow these steps:
