About the Author
I dedicate this book in memory of Sarah Jane Ketchup, my mother.
Sarah Jane was born August 1, 1942, to Eugene and Mary Atkinson. She was the youngest of seven. At age eighteen, she was married to Robert Hayes and widowed by age twenty. I was her second child. She had seven children: five girls and two boys. She was remarried to George Ketchup of Brunswick, Georgia. She went on to be with the Lord at seventy-one years of age. She raised her children in holiness. Minister Ketchup became a born-again Christian when I was six years old. She believed in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the laying of hands. She was a powerful ambassador for the kingdom of heaven. Many came to Christ through her witnessing. She was kind and helping others. I love and miss her.
Introduction
Nobody knows what the future has planned for them; only the promises of God are sure.
I would like to acknowledge my heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, giving Him all honor and glory. I praise God for my victorious life in Him.
Some of you probably wonder why I named the story of my life The Dark Side.
When God gave me this name, I understood perfectly, because it deals with every factor of my life, mind, body, and soul.
Psalm 51:5 says, Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Sin represents darkness. This verse clearly defines we all come from the dark side. God has given me a clear view of where we come from according to His Word.
My Life Begins
Iwas born to Sarah Jane Atkinson Hayes, the second oldest of seven children. I was born at Moultrie, Georgia, in Ballard Farm, as a bastard child. I wore that title most of my life, until I realized I have a heavenly Father who loves me unconditionally. It took me most me of my life to accept the realization of who I am and who my spiritual father is.
Born in November 6, 1962, I met my heavenly Father at the age of nineteen.
My parents raised their children to love and respect God, making Him the head of our lives.
I understand that life can be difficult. I saw my parents' struggles and purposed in my heart that life would be different for me and my family.
I was a very difficult child. Our family was dysfunctional like all families, but we made it. Sometimes I look back and laugh at how naïve I was. We were blessed. God supplied our needs.
My husband and I made plans for our future. First we planned to be retired by the age of fifty and have our home and other assets paid for.
Anthony is fifty-three, while I am forty-eight. We closed our businesses, except for one restaurant. We were looking out for our son, Blake. You can't plan for the unseen, like the sicknesses that came upon my body.
The Disease Calciphylaxis
As I got older, I really desired to have a child. I prayed these words to God, Every woman wants at least one child.
I only birthed one child; unfortunately,
