When life’s mountains are to high to climb

And its oceans are too wide

When I am overwhelmed with grief

When the cliffs are too steep

And the waters too deep

I find myself holding on to You

I’m holding on by the edge of a prayer

and I’m longing for You to be there

When a traumatic day comes crashing through

I’m holding on my God to You

I’m holding on by the edge of a prayer

And I’m hoping my LORD that you will be there

To hear my mournful cry and my tearful sorrow

When I am out of my own strength and there’s none to borrow

I’m holding on my God to You, by the edge of a prayer

Oh, in times of heart wrenching despair

My LORD, I’m holding on to You

When life’s mountains are too high to climb

When oceans are too wide

When the cliffs are too steep

And the waters are too deep

I’m reaching, reaching out to You

By the edge of a prayer

In times of heart wrenching despair

When I am unable to comprehend

I’m holding on my God, holding on to You again

Because I believe that You deeply care

So, I’m holding on to You, by the edge of a prayer.
