    About the Author

Meet June Redding (Lil Red Redding)

My family’s bakery is in serious financial trouble. Big time. The shop needs repairs and updated equipment, but business has been so slow.

So, I’m desperate for new ideas to make more money. Even if that means I have to climb Fable Mountain late at night looking for some mountain magic. Plus, my Granny Red depends on me. I can’t let her down.

But when I run into my childhood crush who literally saves my life, baking sweet treats isn’t the only thing on my mind anymore. Granny Red has always warned me to stay away from the wolves, but this sexy, big, bad wolf shifter is seriously the mountain man of my dreams…

    Ugh.

Staying away from Wyatt Wolff will take all kinds of fairytale magic.

Meet Wyatt Wolff (Big Bad Wolf)

I live alone for a reason. No one in Charming Springs likes my kind. And I’m content here on Fable Mountain, far away from everyone and everything.

But this curvy, red-headed cutie who shows up out of nowhere gets me all distracted. She’s making me feel things I’ve never felt before. Things I thought were long dead inside me. Things I thought only existed in fairytales.

And now I’m going to do whatever it takes to make her mine.

    Forever.

    Chapter One

    June

I gotta get back to my granny’s house.

Her home is my home. And it’s so safe. And warm. And I should be there right now in my cozy room with my comfy bed surrounded by all my squishmallows.

Not here in a dark forest on top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by tall trees and creepy-looking bushes and who knows what else.

Honestly, I don’t even wanna think about what else is out there. So, I focus on internally abusing myself for my poor life choices, one of my favorite activities, while trying to get Google Maps to work on my phone. Thankfully, it’s fully charged because no one ever calls or texts me besides my granny or my bestie Cherelle.

Clearly, I have no social life.

But not so thankfully, no service bars show on the screen. Not even the SOS signal. I have no phone connectivity whatsoever.

Why in the world did I decide to hike a mountain and walk around in a creepy forest anyway?

Well, because I’m desperate. Desperate to save my family business.

Lil Red’s Goodie Basket Bakery hasn’t been doing too well, and neither has my granny’s health. So, I’ve taken over the daily operations while she’s been out of commission at work. And after one look at the financial statements, my heart sinks because the bakery is one bad batch of cupcakes away from bankruptcy.

And I feel like it’s all my fault because my granny took out a big loan on the bakery to send me to culinary school in Atlanta, Georgia. This financial mess is all on me and my stupid ambitions to become a fancy chef.

So now, I have to do whatever it takes to save the bakery. My granny is all I have, and she built this business from nothing. I can’t let it fail. Which is why I hiked up Fable Mountain after working at the shop all day.

Why Fable Mountain? Well, because everyone in my tiny hometown of Charming Springs has always talked about bizarre miracles and mystical wonders happening here. And I need some magic in my life right now. Actually, I need all the help I can get, supernatural or not.

But instead of finding magic on the mountain, I find nothing but darkness. Creepiness. And a beautiful yet eerie forest filled with weird sounds. Oh, and some really delicious wild berries. So, at least my hike isn’t a total loss. I fill my basket, excited about the tasty treats I can make at the bakery with the fresh fruit.

My stomach rumbles when I think about baking, reminding me I haven’t eaten all day. But I can’t face Granny’s sad face at the supper table when I tell her how slow business is again. And how slow it’s been for the past few months.

So, I lie. I tell Granny I’m working late at the bakery tonight. And now, look where my lies get me. Lost in a dark mountain forest with a basket full of berries and no phone service.

And as if my night can’t get any better, out of nowhere, a long, haunting howl pierces the cool, still night air.

A spine-chilling howl that sounds way too close for comfort.

Time to get moving. I put on my oversized red hoodie while walking even faster through the woods, trying to find an opening. An exit. Anything to get me the hell outta here.

But every tree looks the same. There’s no path, no trail, nothing to guide me. I can’t remember how I entered the forest because the delicious berries distracted me.

And now my racing thoughts distract me. I can’t stop thinking about the other stories from the lovely people of Charming Springs about Fable Mountain. Creepy cautionary tales about scary wolf shifters, huge bear shifters, all kinds of magical critters and country folklore. My granny also warned me many times about staying away from the mountain when I was younger.

I still hear Granny’s voice echoing in my thoughts:

Lil Red, don’t you ever let me catch you going up the mountain with those nasty ass, disgusting wolves!

My granny never holds her tongue. She keeps it real. And the shifter folk don’t mix with the town folk in Charming Springs. Never have and never will. That’s why the shifters live on the outskirts of town, way up Fable Mountain, away from everyone.

But sometimes, very rarely, the shifters come into town for supplies. My mind drifts back to when I came face to face with a wolf shifter. The brief, one time experience still haunts and confuses me to this day. Because I will never forget his deep, raspy voice, massive, tattooed arms, and icy, arctic blue eyes, even though I only saw him once.

Once was all it took to make Wyatt Wolff become my secret obsession. That big bad wolf shifter has been the main character in plenty of my sexy fantasies, along with my vibrator. Since I’ve never had a real boyfriend, imagining Wyatt’s hands…and other body parts…all over me is the next best thing.

And maybe…some teeny, tiny part of me hopes to run into Wyatt tonight on the mountain. I know Granny warned me to stay away, but there’s something about him I can’t resist. Maybe it’s the bad boy thing. Or the age gap thing because I know he’s a little older than me. Or maybe it’s just the forbidden temptation of being with the enemy.

But much like all my decisions lately,
