About this ebook

The holy scriptures are not always easy to read and understand. The Old Testament has many laws that are impossible for us to keep. Consider some of the following laws. Should we apply capital punishment for incorrigible children? (Exodus 21:18-21), for those caught in adultery? And if you will be honest with yourself, this will include a vast number of people today (Leviticus 20:10). What about the false teachers among us (Deuteronomy 13:1-11), should we be stoning them to death?
These laws were established for the Jewish nation. They were not then to be passed onto the Church. The Church was established just over 50 days after Jesus died on the cross. At his death the new covenant came into effect and this is the law Christians are meant to keep today.
Jesus has been described as being of greater worth than Moses, Moses himself tells us there would come another prophet, and we must listen to him. And that prophet was Jesus Christ. When Jesus was baptised in the river by John. God the Father's voice was heard, and he also said "listen to him".
We cannot keep both laws, so we must keep either one or the other. The new laws of Jesus Christ came into effect the moment Jesus died on the cross, and these are the laws all people must keep. Jews and Christians alike. Keeping these laws is the only way to be seen as righteous in the eyes of God.

Author

Leslie Rendell

Leslie Rendell has been studying the bible for most of his life. When he is researching a topic, the most important reference book is always the bible. There is no other authority for matters of what God expects from those He has created in His own image. If there is a conflict between the bible and man’s thoughts, the bible will win every time. Although he has had no formal bible education, he believes the average bible reader can understand the bible. Otherwise, how could they ever know what God’s will is for their lives? He is retired and now lives in the South West of Western Australia. Apart from his love of the Bible and his family, his other hobby is photography, where he loves to photograph God’s creation.

    The Law of Moses - Leslie Rendell

    Did Jesus Keep the Law of Moses?

    Did Jesus Christ keep the law of Moses? And if he did, then is this law still binding on Christians today? Many believe that all Christians must either partially or completely adhere to the Law of Moses even in this modern day. The only way we can come to the truth of the matter is to search the scriptures and come to the right conclusion.

    As with anything you are learning from God’s holy scriptures, you need to read with an open mind and heart. If you allow your previous beliefs to influence your understanding, then you will never arrive at the truth of any matter. You must allow God’s words, the words of Jesus Christ, to be your guide, and believe what God has presented to you.

    We are told the handwriting in ordinances, or the Law of Moses, was nailed to the cross, as is clear from.

    Col 2:12  having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.

    Col 2:13  You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses.

    Col 2:14  wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us; and he has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross;

    The first question we may have here is this. Is the entire law of Moses, or only a portion of it nailed to the cross? This book reveals the truth to you from God’s own words, the holy bible. The following scripture is one I like to use in any book I write, as a reminder of the importance of both the old and the new testaments in the bible.

    2Ti 3:16  Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.

    2Ti 3:17  that each person who belongs to God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

    The relationship between the Old and New Testaments was described by Augustine this way: The new is in the old concealed; the old is in the new revealed. These
