Sam glanced at the stiffening remains.

What the hell were you doing here? he mumbled, prodding the body with a stick.

He grimaced. The man’s torso was scored with deep long cuts; oozing green sap.

And this green shit? he said, prodding deeper into the weeping wounds. 

Kumar was near the edge of the field, bent over his knees, heaving.

Sam sighed, walked to Kumar and placed a hand on his friend's back.

Let’s get you back to the Watch house, he whispered, and seeing a hiccupping nod, Sam straightened up. The stench of bodily fluids was permeating into everything.

He did not want to be anywhere near the body, and he could see the special branch stiffs approaching. He tapped Kumar's shoulder.

Come on. I don't think you want to spend time talking to those guys while this one oozes.

Kumar blew out a few gasping breaths
