This mini book is written in a devotional style to make it easy to read, reflect and take notes, as we study a man’s encounter with God at the age of 40.

I have written out 20 lessons from this man’s experience. You can use the book in different ways including:
For personal study: You can decide to read this mini book all at once as it is easy to read and follow.
As a devotional: You can read it as a 20 day devotional by taking the lessons one per day
Group study: You can use it as study material with a group of people and let each participant share their understanding and thoughts
Promises
Scriptures from both the Old and New Testament of the Bible have been provided for reference and for further study. Please read them and meditate on them before you proceed to the Personal Journal section. Unless otherwise stated, all scriptures are from the New Living Translation (NLT).
Personal Journal
I have deliberately provided a personal journal section in the book so you can do a lot of reflection and writing. Whichever way you choose to use this material, I encourage you to do a lot of writing. A few questions have been provided to help you think about the application of these lessons to your personal life. You can add more questions of your own. I encourage you to use this section so you can get the most out of this book.
Prayer
I have included a short prayer with each lesson to help you turn the promises into prayer. Please use this as a guide to spend some time in prayer. Remember to bring the specific promises and prophecies you are believing God for to Him in prayer.
Introduction
I have had a few life-defining moments in my life. One of them happened shortly before I turned 40 years old. I suddenly realized that I started to panic as my 40th birthday approached. I am a naturally calm person, not easily worried or bothered, so this was very strange to me. Although I have had a few life-defining moments in my life before, this was different. I had never been in a situation where just the fact that my birthday was approaching literally made me panic and get very restless.
There are so many popular sayings and quotes around turning 40. A very popular one is the saying that life begins at 40. Does life really begin at 40? Is this one of the reasons why people panic as their 40th birthday approaches? Interestingly, I have a few friends that are older and a few others that are younger than me, and almost everyone I spoke with, whether male or female, experienced some sort of fear or panic attack around their 40th birthday.
