About this ebook

Whether you are seeking to maintain a healthier lifestyle, or just getting started, this beginner’s guide will help build your confidence in being able to sustain the commitment you make to yourself, for yourself. Throughout the book, I share my journey and strategies that have helped me thrive in my lifestyle choice of vegetarianism (13 years in October 2023). Even though I absolutely do not persuade others to be vegetarian, I do know that there are long-lasting benefits to incorporating healthier food options on a consistent basis. I stress, throughout the book, to start where you are and grow from there!

    Maintaining the Journey

    Preface

If you’ve been sick, for any length of time, and more than once in your life, you understand that your health is priceless.  You may have had an excruciating pain or an unexplainable occurrence (even ailments such as PMS, menstrual cramping, headaches, or the common cold) that made you long for the day when you did not feel that pain, not to mention if the medical professional proclaims that you may have to live with this ailment for the rest of your life. In those moments, we understand the true value of our health.  By making a few changes, you can change the trajectory of your life for not only yourself, but for generations to come.

October 2023 will mark 13 years that I’ve been vegetarian, and it has not always been easy but I’ve been able to sustain.  I’ve seen the food options change over the years, as I remember going to restaurants and drive-thru’s where the only options were french fries, a salad or pasta with some type of sauce, lol. It was frustrating, to say the least.  I’ve learned to work around it but

I’ve realized that it’s so important to:

Find trusted resources for healthy and affordable recipes

    Carry snacks with me

Identify restaurants close to home and work that have sustainable meal options

View the online menu, prior to eating out

Most importantly, be accountable to my own journey

I’ve received countless questions about my lifestyle, such as,

What do you eat? How do you get enough protein? Or statements, that "it costs too
