DEDICATION
First, I give honor, glory, and thanks to God that He loved me and saw fit to save me. To my husband, ‘One of the teachers’ of my life, whom God gave me to understand how God loves us so dearly spiritually, I love you, 1st Sergeant Vernon Lee Camper, you taught me more than you will ever know. To my daughter, Stanisha, another one who has taught me so many things and is a reflection of me; strong, solid, and full of courage.
My son Eric, whom I love dearly, does not know this. However, he is my king, my firstborn; he is a giver. My baby sister Marilyn and big sis Pam, I love you guys. Mrs. Benjamin, whom I consider my second mother, is a woman of integrity and boldness who would radically preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to me; I thank her with all my heart, may she R.I.P. Moreover, this book is genuinely dedicated to my mother, Margaret Johnson, because she chose out of her three daughters to plant the Lord’s prayer in my heart even though she did not raise me in the Church. However, God saw fit to make it stick in my heart so that one day I would understand what it meant and go out to teach His Word to a dying world that He loves so much and wishes no man to perish; I love her dearly.
To everyone else who has played a big part in this journey with me and still traveling alongside me. I pray that this book blesses you and opens doors and eyes, but most of all open your heart to Open The Book! God Bless You.
INTRODUCTION
In my beginning was deception (confusion, lies, and misunderstanding). All things Not made by God were counterfeited through deception or made from what God already created. I went through the lies to get to the Truth; "Truth was Life, and Life was the Light of men. And the light shines in the darkness and the darkness could not comprehend it!" John 1:4-5
I would like to invite you to Open The Book. Time and time again we have confessed "We don’t have time to read the bible, but we have time to eat and sleep and everything in between; make breakfast, go to work, exercise, get married, have intercourse, create a family, take kids to their activities, have a drink, read a book, write a book and take a vacation. We do have time to
Open the Book." So why don’t we? Many of us may find it confusing, uncomfortable, challenging, and scary, and it just doesn’t make sense, forgetting that its purpose is to give us eternal life. We like to be comfortable, we like to do what we want to do, even if it gets us in trouble; emotionally, physically, and sickly.
"The Book, The Word of God saved my life! He delivered me from my darkest days and opened my eyes to a marvelous light. You might ask how did the Word save me? I cried out to the Lord one night when I hit rock bottom and there was no way out, on the floor in a prison cell after six arrests and two felonies, sentenced to 7 to 21 years. Everything I did to my community and to myself caught up with me, everything I thought was the truth.
The Book says
Wisdom is the principal thing; in all your getting get understanding." Proverbs 4:7.
I framed my world, and now it had all vanished, snatched right from under me along with my freedom. The Book says, God framed the worlds with His Word, and I’m made in His image. He said, "Let us go down and make man in our image, according to our likeness. Another passage says,
Unless the lord builds the house, its builder’s labor in vain." So, my world was framed by my words, my imagination was framed by the world according to darkness (Lies + Truth = Lies).
My belief system would be based on those who reared me and participated in my growth, not that it was all bad, but we were all deceived at one point. The abuses, verbal, sexual, and physical would forever change the way I think; It would shape me and prepare me for how I would respond to life (Trials and Tribulations). "As a man thinks in his heart so is he. You will get more understanding as I explain my story alongside the truth;
in all your getting you have to get understanding." Hebrews 11:3, Genesis 1:26-27, Psalms 127:1, and Proverbs 23:7.
This book is for those who have it all and cannot see, for those who have nothing and cannot see, for those who have Jesus Christ and can see and want more. For those who have been molested, domestic violence abused, verbally abused, sick and shut-in, alcoholic abused, drug abused, overworked, or kids out of control, the shame and the guilty. Jesus died for it all.
My goal is to get you to "Open the Book, raise questions, get you curious, and maybe give you some understanding of who you are and show you who I was and how God loved me first and changed my way of thinking and transformed me into this new life. I’m not necessarily trying to answer questions or debate with you. Hopefully, get you to evaluate and examine your life from the Book and my life based on questions and the Truth that is only found in
The Book." The things I’ll explain will be based on my experience and testimony and the Book will confirm them. There is a better life for all of us and it is near, so near you can see it. We have gotten so comfortable in what we see, hear, smell, taste, and touch that we are so far away from what is faith in God’s Word, and what grace means; it is not just undeserved favor or something that keeps you in sin (Grace walks you out of sin, opens doors, and yes gives you much favor). Do you know Jesus? Do you know the Holy Spirit? He is not an out-of-control maniac that is for sure! What does it mean to be born again? What is the Kingdom of God? And where is it? Is God’s Word alive? Is a new life spiritual or natural? Who is the church? What is Salvation? What does it mean to be dead in your trespasses? If I do not forgive someone for molesting me will God still forgive me? Can I have sexual relationships without being married and still have a relationship with God?
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16. If
