About this ebook

A five-foot, five inches tall woman with light brown hair by the name of Cathy Loganberry, the morale officer, was minding the communications and stated, "I have you in my scanner Sir, is there any way you can slow your descent?"

"No. I've done everything I could. Tell Cherry I love her." The next thing Cathy heard was a loud explosion, then silence over the communication line. Cathy slammed her hand on the intercom button and screamed, "Red Bird down! All emergency response teams report to the tarmac immediately! Thor's star car has crashed fifty miles south of the Institute!"

Author

Gary T Brideau

I was born in a small house in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1947 and moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut as a small boy. I met Lauren, the love of my life in1985 and were married years later and moved to Bristol, Connecticut. One night, I had a vivid dream that caught my attention, that spurred me to write it down, and sent it to my sister T. Jene Brideau, for an interpretation who also is a writer. She wrote and told me that the story was good. I took her encouragement and my imagination went to work. That’s when I discovered my God-given talent to write great space adventures stories. From then on, I have written over fifty stories of which only seven of them have been published with great reviews.

    About The Galaxy

    Sentinel Series

Thor, or Thor Manning Stromburg, is the Galaxy Sentinel, six feet tall, with dark brown hair and rugged features. He is in charge of the Institute, a five-story red brick building that sits on top of a mountain, jungle-dominated planetoid.

The Institute is a five-story red brick building that houses the galaxy’s most feared and dangerous criminals, guarded by a highly trained staff of two hundred and fifty men and women.

Thor does not work above the law; he works with the law tracking down hardened criminals and locks them up for good, out of society’s way.

The law of the Planetary Alliance says that if a felon is caught committing a crime. There is no trial to determine if he is guilty, his actions are a testimony against him, and he is without excuse. A hearing is held to determine the criminal sentence. No lawyer, no long, drawn-out trial. The man was caught in the middle of committing a crime.

However, if there is a shadow of doubt about whether he is guilty, there is a trial to decide his fate.

Thor’s wife, Cherry Ruth Blossom, a six feet tall, shapely woman with brown hair, stands by his side no matter what. She was born on Planet Haskell Prime, slightly smaller than that of Earth. Cherry’s younger sister’s name was Jasmine; she disappeared and was presumed dead at sixteen. But she was found later on Earth.

When she was five years old, Cherry’s father died in a fiery crash while serving on an ore spaceship. From then on, Cherry and her mother lived on what they could afford, which was not much. As the years went on, Cherry received Christ at nineteen and developed an attitude that she had to work extra hard for the simple things in life. She hoped to make something of herself at eighteen and struck out on her own. She went from one dead-end job to the next as misfortune hung over her like a cloud.

At thirty, Cherry finally landed a great job and a wonderful place to live. When hard times struck, causing her to lose her job and her home all in the same day. Distressed about her life, she sat under a Cherry tree in a park weeping, not knowing what to do next. Thor found her, and they became the first husband and wife-retrieval team in the galaxy.

The Galaxy series also consists of Leprechauns, Sprites, Will-o-the-wisps, which look like six-foot fairies, and various aliens. The Institute is a vast complex comprising an Arboretum, a beach at the foot of the mountain, a large housing complex with a cafe, a large store, and a Three-Dimensional Particle Acceleration System on the fifth floor of the Institute that is far better than any hologram, and an underground tramway.

    Characters List

The Institute: sits on top of Mount Baldwin, some seven hundred feet above Smile Lake. Two hundred fifty men and women guard and work at the Institute.

Thor: or Thor Manning Stromburg, he grew up on a farming planet and was more trouble than he was worth because of his powerful desire for adventure. His parents did everything they could to teach him farming, to no avail. After his turn in the space military was over, Sam formed; a company called The Agency and was referred to as Admiral Sam the Stout. Sam has red hair around the sides of his head. Gumshoe: is a mischievous blue nose monkey found on the same planet as General. He is very loveable and obedient. Chapter 1

    WINDSTORM

Thor, a six-foot-tall muscular man with brown hair, woke up early in the morning, kissed Cherry, his wife, a six-foot-tall woman with brown hair, and said, The First General wants me to go to Earth and bring Tammy-Lee back. She is an undercover agent scoping out Earth to see if it is ready to join the Alliance.

And Miss Tammy-Lee got herself into trouble; now, little ol, you have to be her knight in shining armor.

If you remember I am also the Alien Ambassador of Montrose as well as the Galaxy Sentinel, which means it is my job to haul her butt out of the fire when she is in trouble.

Just remember whose you are and where you hang your hat.

Don’t worry about Tammy-Lee, Sweetheart. I’m not going to get involved with her. I’m old enough to be her father. Hey, I got to go.

I saw the way she looked at you last month when we had to take her home. I had to wipe her drool off you. Stated Cherry.

You’re kidding me. Oh, I’m taking the star car, got to go. Tell my girls I said bye, and I’ll be back to take all of us camping.

Outside, Thor stared up at the black clouds swiftly approaching and ordered, Everybody get to your homes! We are in for a bad storm!

Mary Bell, a cute 38-inch-tall Sprite, marched up to Thor and asked, Can I stay at your place?

Sure, you can pitch in and be my helper, Thor turned to his adopted daughter, Belinda, a 23-year-old woman who is 5’2 with short curly brown hair with a perky figure, said, I’ll get things tied down.

Abbie, a young red six-foot pixie called, Will-o-the-wisp with fuzzy white wings, shot across the sky, landing by her father, Thor, and said, I saw the storm earlier, and I thought to check it out. We are in for a bad one. I had a tough time navigating; through the rain; it was coming down so hard.

    What about the wind?

I’d say the gust are about a good eighty miles an hour or more, along with horrendous lightning.

Go to the housing project, and make sure everyone has everything tied down.

Abbie shot skywards just as the wind began to blow the sand around. Cherry and Belinda rushed up to Thor to see if they could help and inquired, How’s the Institute?

Rock and Sam have everything under control, but we better get inside before we’re blown away.

Thor cast his eyes skyward, saw a Sprite struggling to fly in the wind, and hollered to his other daughter, Tippy, a six-foot-tall Will-o-the-wisp with long curly hair, said, See if you can help that Sprite before she’s blown against a tree or something.

Tippy flew up, grabbed the struggling Sprite, and landed. Thor stared at the windblown Doctor and asked, Chrissy, what are you doing flying around in this wind? You are as bad as Sprite Mary Bell.

Come on, Thor, I’m not that bad. I was trying to make it back to the infirmary before the storm hit.

Cherry shouted from the front porch of their cottage, Here comes the rain, Hon!

Thor made it to the porch with Chrissy as a bolt of lightning slammed into a palm tree behind them, shattering it."

Sprite Mary Bell announced from the kitchen, Hot coffee and pastry for the drowned rats!

All that night, the wind howled as the thunder ushered blinding flashes of lightning that split the sky. The following day, Thor sat on the front porch with his family, scanned the beach littered with fallen trees, and asked, Who wants to clean the junk off the beach?

A female Wisp landed at the foot of the porch steps, with her hair matted, clothes barely hanging on her shoulders. Thor inquired, Abbie, what happened to you? You look like something the cat dragged in.

I was up all night trying to keep the idiot Sprites from being blown away because they thought it was fun to fly around in all that wind and rain. Now, if you will excuse me, I’m gonna shower and get some sleep.

Thor kissed his wife and said, I’ll send the maintenance to help clean the beach and around the house.

Tippy rushed up to her father and said, Dad, let me carry you to the Institute. I don’t think the mountain path is passable at this time.

At the Institute, Thor walked into his outer office, saw Stacy busy at work, and inquired, How did you get here? Have maintenance cleared the road to the housing project already.

I was working late and was stuck here for the night. So, I slept in one of the old staff quarters. Oh, Sir, the First General called, and he wants you to know if you can come to planet Dicapl.

Thor entered the inner office, set the Retrieval Computer for Dicapl, stepped on the pad, and activated it only to wind up in the cafeteria. Thor walked back to his office and stated, Stacy, call the Lab and have them check out the Retrieval Computer; the stupid thing sent me to the cafeteria.

A medium-built woman with long black hair dressed in dark blue slacks and a yellow top walked up to Thor’s desk and said, You wanted to see me. Sir?

Miss Vilma Puckett, I see you are looking well. Why do you hide in the lab? Care to explain?

Miss Puckett hung her head and said, My immoral behavior with Branden Burnett was inexcusable, Sir, and I am ashamed of my actions.

It was not your fault. Chrissy found traces of a drug in your system, which made you give in to his sexual whims.

Thank you, Sir. Oh, just FYI, I have not been in bed with a man since. What is it you wanted me for?

The Retrieval Computer is on the fritz.

I’ll have it up and running before you get back, Sir.

Thor fired up the star car and flew skyward then opened a portal to the other side of the galaxy. Exiting the portal on the dark side of the moon then set course for Tammy-Lee’s California-style ranch in Alabama. Thor landed on a secluded road and lowered the wheels of the star car and headed for Tammy’s place, parked in the driveway, walked to the door, and rang the bell.

Tammy opened the door, clad in a short, thin, light blue negligee, smiled, and said, Hi Thor, come on in. I just made a pot of coffee.

Thor glanced at Tammy’s intimate apparel and suggested, I’ll wait outside until you are dressed.

    It’s alright; we’re two adults.

"This adult happens to be married to a wonderful woman, so I’ll
