Who is Angela White?I published my first book in elementary school--Mystery of the Missing Tabby. The school library still has it, as far as I know. That was my first real work, where writing became solace for me.In Jr. High, a teacher told our class none of us could match the classic authors we would be studying; we weren’t good enough. I took that to heart and turned in an A- paper with a rookie mistake that prevented me from getting the respect I wanted from that lady. I hated it that she was right. I still do.I also adore her for waking my brain to the possibility that someday I might be as good as one of the iconic writers who frame the world of literature. I’ll never know if she did it intentionally, but it worked for me. I’ve never wanted to do anything else.Thanks to that drive, the fire she finished waking, I live off my writing and run my own publishing company. I have twenty novels out, and thousands of fans. It's a long way to go before children study my work in schools, but I’m still just as hot for it now as I was in that musty classroom in 7th grade.So, that’s who I am. I am building, and living, the American dream.Who are you and what have you done?That’s a hard question to answer if you’re still trying to get there. I understand. Here’s some free advice: Follow your dreams, even when the world says it’s crazy. Sometimes, you’ll find a life that satisfies you more than you ever thought was possible. Chase that, starting right now, and the next time someone asks who you are, tell them you’re an immovable force, a wild dreamer, a hopeful comet shooting toward the goals that orbit your existence. And then lift your chin. There aren’t many of us left who want to be good at what we do. Everyone else just seems to want that green shit.I now write full time and live on a small ranch with my family and our clowder of barn cats. You haven’t laughed until you’ve seen newborn kittens playing in the weeds. It’s an amazing way to begin the day. Thank you to everyone who gave me a try. I wouldn’t have this life if not for all of you. Self-sufficiency is an indescribable gift, especially when you grow up poor. May someone help each of you the way you’ve helped me.Contact Angela WhiteFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/authorangelawhiteEmail:cloudninepublications@yahoo.com

DEDICATION
Much gratitude: To all the young adults, who opened their lives
to me these last 20 years and inspired me to write this book.
And to M., for always being what I need.
INTRODUCTION
I am so grateful you are here. If you are reading these words, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Within these pages are the unspoken rules of studying math. With these rules and a bit of practice you can unlock the secrets to math success.
If you are a young adult tired of the adults in your life shoving expectations down your throat, keep reading. If you are an adult at your wit’s end about how to get a young adult to buckle down and study, keep reading. This book came through me and is written for you.
As a long-time tutor of high school and college students, I have helped hundreds of regular families just like you. I understand. In fact, as a mother, I have been in your shoes. I have sat at the table with my 14-year-old son and pleaded with him to just sit down and do your math!
I have been the math student more interested in socializing than doing homework.
I have also been the tutor, who has sat at the kitchen tables of family after family, listening.
…Listening past the how to’s
and the math tricks and test scores. Listening, to the real struggle of life balance, of joys and hardships that make up this whole life. Because math doesn’t have to be your whole life (unless you want it to be) and it doesn’t have to be a hard battle! It just, sometimes…is.
This book is a culmination of what I learned, sitting at those tables. This book is for the everyday student. This book is for the everyday family looking to love and support each other through this small bit of time in their lives. Because what I know, is that with persistence and consistency YOU CAN DO MATH!
In this book, I will share with you those secrets, to make high school and college math less of a struggle.
In chapter one, we will discuss why studying math is different than other subjects. In chapter two I will show you the importance of foundational concepts. Then, we will get to the heart of the book and learn the unspoken rules that successful students use. I created the mnemonic Sh.O.W.U.P. 4 M.A.T.H. which illustrates the 10 unspoken rules that successful students implement for success in high school and college math.
Sh.O.W.U.P 4 M.A.T.H. stands for the following:
Sh. = Show Up 4 Math
•Where we discuss all the ways to show up!
O = Organize
•How to organize yourself and your binder for success!
W= Write It Down
•Specifically, what is important to write down and what’s not!
U = Use the Textbook (or learning resource)
•How to use a textbook, learning packet or online video instruction
P = Practice, Practice, Practice
•Tips and tricks for daily practice and problem solving
4. = The 4-Part Breath
•Taking a pause to figure out what kind of math you want to take
M = Motivation
•Know your WHY
A = Attitude
•Building an I can
growth mindset
•Learning from your mistakes
T = Taking Tests
•Including test anxiety, how to prepare and what to do during a test
H = Help
•How to ask for help, get a tutor and when to drop a class
These 10 unspoken rules will
