The elevator shook as I rode it to the top floor of the high-rise apartment building. It was a long week working as an Au Pair for Collin and Sadie Jensen. They were busy, both executives who could pay me to work for their family full time, and it was enough not to have to take out student loans each semester for tuition. It was worth the money, and they were the best set of parents I’d worked for. The job was a breeze.

When the elevator chimed, I rounded the corner of their hallway. They didn’t live the most conventional life, but with all the money and traveling, it kind of made sense for them. It was Saturday night, and Mr. and Mrs. Jensen were having their usual bi-weekly date night.

I knocked on the door and immediately could hear shuffling from the other side. Curiosity got the best of me, and I leaned forward. It was clear Collin and Sadie were talking and taking their time getting to the door.

When it pulled open, I jumped a little. Collin took me entirely by surprise. I was so used to seeing him dressed in suits, with his sandy hair slicked back with gel. Even on their date nights, Collin and Sadie were dressed to the nines. But he was wearing gray sweatpants and his hair was slightly messy. Something was off.

Hey Ava. He smiled as his eyes lightly scrunched in the corners.

Hi, Mr. Jensen. Uh- I’m sorry. Am I still working tonight? For your night out?

As he stood in the door, my eyes roamed his broad shoulders. He looked nice in his suits but seeing him dressed so casually was almost more attractive. He seemed more real.

I think Sadie forgot to text you. He raised a brow and then widened the door. In the background, Sadie was curled up on the couch behind him. Her looks caught me off guard almost as much as Collin’s. Her dirty blonde hair wasn’t styled, and loose pieces fell into her face, and I could tell she didn’t have much makeup on. I’d always thought she looked similar to Scarlett Johansson; and with the relaxed hair style, she was even more strikingly similar.

Oh. My giggle sounded so awkward, and my cheeks burned hot.
