With the sun warming my skin, I scanned the horizon. The turquoise waters and salty morning breeze were enough to relax me. No pressing meetings, conference calls, or the never-ending chime of email alerts to pull me away from the view. Collin and I worked hard in our careers. Day in, day out. I don’t care what anyone tried to say. Corporate life was a drag. Adding a family onto that? It was a good thing we could afford the lavish, quarterly vacations. Some days it was the motivation to keep pushing through our roles in our careers and as parents. But our hectic lives also brought another blessing: Ava, our Au Pair.

Where is she? I asked Collin, then sipped on my spiked orange juice.

He nuzzled against my neck. Impatient, aren’t you? I could feel his smile as his breath tickled my neck. He was right, I was getting impatient for Ava to join us. But I knew he was too.
