Shit!

I hadn’t expected the telltale red and blue lights on the motorcycle behind me to start flashing. Usually bike cops in my town were much more lax about speeding offenses on our wide, friendly roads. One could generally go ten to fifteen miles per hour over the speed limit without having to worry about getting pulled over.

This guy must be new.

I slowed to a halt on the side of the road, next to a large field. The policeman left his lights on, but turned off the blaring siren and pulled off behind me. As he was getting off of his bike, I quickly fixed my hair and checked my makeup in the rearview mirror. When he appeared outside of my driver’s-side window, I pushed my ample chest forward, widened my grey-blue eyes, and smiled up at him.

Do you know why I pulled you over today, ma’am? the cop asked as he pulled off his helmet. The moment I saw his youthful, innocent face, my heart swelled with hope that I might be able to get out of the ticket using my looks and a few carefully-chosen words. He was handsome, with a strong jaw-line and the brightest blue eyes I’d ever seen; and young, probably in his early twenties: a newbie to the force as I’d predicted.

Well, I might’ve been going a little fast, Officer. I apologize. This week at work has been hellish, to say the least. I’m sure you can relate, given the gas station crime spree plaguing the town these past few days.

"It has been
