Introduction
Your family history is also part of your story. Perhaps learning more about your family will help you be a different person. Or maybe your research will help you open the door to the questions you usually ask about your past, and your ancestors. Either way, researching your ancestors will help clear up doubts, and provide insights for your children and grandchildren. You can't imagine how much you learn from the past of people you never knew, but whose blood runs in your veins! Genealogy is an incredible source of revelation, and it is well worth cultivating.
Knowing your family tree will be like opening a door to a distant and unknown past. It means looking in the mirror at yourself and your life a hundred or more years ago. You may not know it, but sometimes history makes like circles and you always come back to where you started. You cannot understand how amazing it is to find out that maybe one of your ancestors, two hundred years ago, looked like you and how much your life looks like his.
The search will be long and laborious, but it will be worth it. It is never simple or easy to unearth hundreds of years of history. However, in the end satisfying your thirst for knowledge will be an unparalleled reward. This little volume can get you started, and I assure you that you will be hooked on the subject in no time. You will find incredible tools to shed light into your distant past.
Chapter 1. How start
It is easy and intuitive to understand why Genealogy is so important. There are countless times that it is repeated. We are faced with the same choices as a hundred years ago. Have we learned from our experiences, or will we make the usual, unforgivable mistakes again?
Whether or not you believe in a Higher Power, we often find ourselves wondering whether what happened to our ancestors in the past could have been avoided and whether and how much their mistakes can be repeated in our lives. After all, blood is the same: how much can we differ from our grandparents, great-grandparents, ancestors? And most importantly: who is part of our family tree? Were they saints or murderers? Rich people or poor people? Did they use their lives well?
Could you be a descendant of one of England's kings or queens? Perhaps you have an ancestor who was a hero during the French Revolution. Perhaps their lives were not blessed with good fortune, and our ancestors were plagued by a life of famine, disease and
