An Undivided Heart - Cory Standinger

    Wicked

    Dear God,

my sin has set fire to your kingdom, smoking.

every ounce of me is broken.

    Unify my heart,

for you have brought it together, a canvas of beautiful art.

    I am a wicked man.

Help me cut off my hands,

    which sin against you

and leave my heart black and blue.

    For I am weak.

Because of pride, my future is bleak.

    The Cross shows your humility,

fell to my knees, knowing death was my responsibility.

    A deep grief,

has overcome my soul, bringing a new belief.

For you are good and I am not.

    Saved from shame’s knot.

Help me to see where you are working,

because I want to serve you, my King.

    In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    Porn

    A field of setting expectations,

    unreasonable perfections.

    Setting the groundwork for weeds,

    through showing the ungodly deeds.

Sex is no longer a gift,

which is to be unwrapped in marriage, shift.

Now it is proclaimed from the mountaintops,

telling of a pleasure in the form of mushroom tops.

Leaving our hearts filled with nuclear waste.

    No love is tasted,

by our hearts, which have grown cold.

Living in deserts, longing for water, spiritually.

    Tired of living, physically.

But our minds are awake in diversion,

keeping our flesh happy in perversion.

    Addiction

Fell into a deep pit, under my prison or house.

I cannot remember as I was doused,

    with ignorance.

    Giving this toxin significance.

    Seems like a bunker.

Maybe a bomb shelter to duck and cover.

Porn is like a sewer rat,

making his way into this bunker, not to chat.

    Not sure how he entered,

but he came from somewhere, ventured.

Found tunnels connected to my shelter.

    Walking around, I found stories.

    Written on the walls.

Claiming women being taken and sold.

    What a toll,

    these tunnels have seen.

God, we need your help to clean,

off the walls of our hearts.

    Women

    Uncovering some of my self-hatred.

Two women tore me down, it is dated.

I was a steppingstone for their hate.

Now I cannot handle the weight.

    Feeling better by feeling low.

    Head hanging low.

    Controlled by shame.

    Worshipped by blame.

    Lost in this god complex.

Thinking I am enough for every woman, it is complex.

    Look at how hard I
