About this ebook

This is a book about courage. The courage to look at things in life from different perspectives. To connect spirituality with science. To take a deeper look at and explore the collective consciousness that infuences each individual, as well as companies.

At the age of two and a half, the world comes crashing down for Silvia Hagen. Due to a tragic accident, she finds her life in shambles. This planet is not for her. Pain, isolation and the feeling of not belonging here characterize her early childhood. However – at the age of 20 – she makes a decision and her whole life changes. She finds a way out of the victim role to more awareness and personal responsibility. This opens the way to her true vocation in organizational and consciousness development.

This work takes all those who are faced with seemingly unsolvable tasks in life on a journey, whether in the private or professional sphere. It shakes you awake and challenges you to take the leap into a new consciousness.

This book is a great inspiration for everyone who wishes to make the best of his life and potential. No matter where you are today, everything is possible.

    About the Author

    Foreword

The first two years of my life were beautiful and harmonious. But then I was abruptly kicked out of the safe nest by a tragic accident. With traumatic consequences. An untameable will not to let myself be restricted by limitations led me to come to grips with all this, to not submerge myself in the role of a victim, but to come to terms with it and to become free. That took many years and was real back-breaking work.

Today, in the second half of my life, I am content with myself and my life. I enjoy my versatile profession in the field of integral organizational and personal development. There I can make a lot of difference and pass on my conviction and experience that you can create something positive out of every difficult situation. Looking back, I see that I developed my talents, my distinctive intuition and my abilities to quickly grasp complex systems largely through this confrontation with my stressful childhood experiences. Like a raw diamond being shaped in the earth’s mantle by high pressure and high temperatures.

What felt like a curse in childhood thus became a blessing. From the integral point of view, which I describe in more detail in the last part of this book, the more clearly I am aware of myself, the more consciously and with greater differentiation I can perceive and understand organizations and people. If I have faced my personal abysses, other people’s abysses cannot frighten me. And if I process the consequences of stressful experiences and imprints within myself, this means that I take responsibility for them and do not project them outwards, blaming other people or unfortunate circumstances. Only then can I also resolve them and become free to express my true self.

Writing this book is like harvest time for me. I decided to publish it for two reasons. On the one hand, for readers who are currently in difficult situations or who are struggling with the consequences of drastic experiences. If I can encourage them and show that it’s worth facing up to it, because inner freedom beckons on the other side, then it was worth writing. On the other hand, I find it exciting to be able to understand from the perspective of Integral Development how confronting personal issues can affect one’s understanding of the world, of humanity, and of work. In this way, the book gives an insight into the attitude in which I shape my work.

I have asked myself over and over again whether I should share so much of my story in the first part. I could shorten it drastically and make part three of the book the main content. However, it was important for me to show that all my present partially unconventional thinking viewpoints are not simply theoretical and taken from thin air, but have a relation to my actual experiences and experiments. That was important for me when doing research. I cannot do this for you. What is written here are my truths, everybody has to find their truths on their own. But maybe my stories will give you one or the other impulse to ask new questions or to experiment a little more boldly.

My personal experience is also an example of how a clear intention and purpose can guide us and give us strength to persevere when things get rough. This already starts in the Prelude.

    Acknowledgements

This is a book about me, my life and my work. My gratitude includes every person and my experiences and adventures that have made me the woman I am today. Of course, my family members play a special role here, first and foremost my parents, who have shaped me with powerful and pioneering role models and guiding principles despite all our difficult experiences. My sister, my brother and my daughter Marina. Marina’s birth was a turning point in my life. She was and is a great teacher to me of many things that matter in life. Marina has also supported me through the entire production process in many ways with feedback, editing work, collaboration in the design and above all with her joie de vivre and enthusiasm. For this I am grateful to her from the bottom of my heart.

I would like to thank all the friends, acquaintances and professional colleagues who supported me during the writing process and the production of the book. They have repeatedly engaged with me in multifaceted discussions and research journeys, given me feedback on the book, answered my questions when I was in doubt – without all of you, this book would not have come into being. I would like to thank you for that.

I would like to thank Dani, Nicole and Monika, my professionals for the cover, illustrations and layout. It is a pleasure to work with you. You also patiently guided me through my moments of crisis and responded to my peculiarities. The result is beautiful. That’s what I think. And I thank Christophe, he helped me over the last hurdle.

    Grammar and my Writing Style

When writing the German edition of this book, I faced some challenges regarding grammar and writing style. With the introduction of the new German spelling a few years ago, many rigid rules were relaxed. Similar to fashion, much is possible today and at the discretion of the user. Now with the translation of the book to English, there are more challenges. Especially the balancing act between British and American English. My audience is diverse, coming from all continents, some British, some American, and many from Asian and Latin American countries for whom English is not their mother tongue.

Language is like a dance for me, and the dance is more important than strict grammatical rules. I’ve written a few books before, both self-published and with third-party publishers, but they were all technical books. This is my first book on personal and philosophical subjects. It was a whole new challenge. I try to write just the way I speak and how it feels natural and appropriate to me. Finding the right feeling words is like flirting with the energy field of what wants to manifest.

I also have a rather spontaneous approach to comma rules. Sometimes I put commas where they are not needed and sometimes I don’t put them where they should be. The determining factor is my feeling when reading the sentence. I hope the commas forgive me this casual handling and nobody feels disturbed by it while reading.

Throughout the book you find my reflections, which I have formatted in italics as highlighted paragraphs. With them, I describe what my experiences have caused in me and what I have learned or taken with me, and how my experiences have shaped me. My takeaways, so to speak.

    Prelude – or a Precognition

I awoke from a state of shock just a few moments before my birth. My mother’s contractions were already pressing me into the narrow canal. Wow, where is this journey going? What was going on all of a sudden, how did I get here? I had spent almost the entire pregnancy in this paralyzed state and had not even noticed what was going on, let alone had time to prepare for my birth. The last thing I remember is a bang and the screams of my mother. Then darkness and absolute silence. That was many weeks ago. But what lies ahead of me? Uncomfortable forebodings. It was probably not a good idea at all to choose this setting. Shouldn’t I just escape right away? Too much pain. Too little fun. What a program, a bad movie.

What was I thinking when I made this choice? Ah, exactly, I had set myself this challenge. I wanted to turn the world upside down, make the impossible possible. Break boundaries, create something new, free humanity from the drama of control and exploitation. Help people discover and express themselves in their power and beauty, to break the chains of trauma and suffering. To encourage people to take back responsibility and control of their own lives, to dive into the depths of their inner wisdom, knowledge and creativity, to draw from it to create the new world. And I wanted to do it now, in this incarnation, knowing that the universe is just opening all doors for a global transformation of human consciousness.

I decided to walk the path I had chosen, with these loving and familiar souls who had agreed to play along on this earthly group journey. My parents, my sister, my brother, my daughter. And when I decided to do it, full of desire and anticipation again, I was aware that I would have to take on a lot to make it happen.

    Part 1

The Years of Apprenticeship and Journeying

In this first part of this book, I describe some life experiences that have shaped me and are thus an important foundation of my understanding of the world and my work today.

I don’t have many direct memories of the first two years of my life. We lived in Lausanne, a city on a beautiful lake in the French part of Switzerland. That’s where my sister
