Dominating The Straight Boss
By Skylar Svetlana
The morning sun shone through the windows of the large corner office as Kevin sat at his desk, his attention focused on the stack of files before him. He was early to work, as usual, and had already been there for an hour, but the work never seemed to end.
He sighed as he leaned back in his chair, rubbing his tired eyes. As a successful businessman, he had always thought that his work would be his life, but lately, he had been feeling a growing emptiness inside of him.
His assistant, Melissa, knocked on the door before entering. Good morning, Mr. Williams,
she said with a bright smile, placing a steaming cup of coffee on his desk.
Good morning, Melissa,
Kevin replied, grateful for the caffeine boost. What's on my schedule for today?
We have a meeting with the marketing team in an hour, followed by another with the legal department after that. And, of course, you have your lunch with Mr. Johnson at noon.
Kevin nodded absentmindedly, his mind already wandering. He had always been a hard worker, but lately, he had been feeling like something was missing. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he felt a growing sense of unease.
As Melissa left the room, Kevin leaned back in his chair, lost in thought. He had always been an ambitious man, driven by his desire to succeed, but lately, he had been feeling increasingly alone.
He couldn't remember the last time he had been in a serious relationship, or even gone on a date. But it wasn't just romantic relationships that were missing from his life - he felt disconnected from people in general.
He recalled his last encounter with his family, which had been strained at best. They had never fully accepted his career choices or his lifestyle, but lately, even their disapproval seemed to pale in comparison to the growing sense of isolation he was experiencing.
As the day wore
