It was a typical day at the forge for Thomas. He had been hammering away at a piece of metal, lost in his own thoughts when the sound of horse hooves brought him out of his trance. Looking up, he saw a young nobleman riding towards him.
Excuse me, sir. Might I have a moment of your time?
Thomas straightened up and wiped the sweat from his brow. Of course, how can I help you?
The nobleman dismounted from his horse and walked towards him. I require a new set of horseshoes for my stallion. Can you make them for me?
Thomas nodded with a small smile. I can make the finest horseshoes in the land, sir. You'll have them by day's end.
They exchanged a few pleasantries, and the nobleman left to tend to other business. Thomas returned to his work but found himself distracted by the nobleman's visit. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to it than just a simple horseshoe request.

They broke apart, panting, and the nobleman looked at him with a smile. Meet me tomorrow night at the ball. I have a proposition for you.
Thomas agreed, the feeling of excitement and apprehension coursing through him. That night, he didn't sleep a wink, his mind racing with thoughts about what the nobleman might want.
The next day, he spent the afternoon preparing for the ball, and by the time evening came around, he was a bundle of nerves. When he arrived at the ball, he scanned the room seeking out the nobleman.
Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder, and he turned to see the nobleman standing behind him. I've been waiting for you,
he said with a smile.
As they danced, Thomas felt the eyes of the other guests on them. Whispers and gossip floated around them, but he didn't care. All that mattered was the feeling of the nobleman's hand in his.
As the night drew to a close, the nobleman took Thomas by the hand
