    Preface

Anxiety is a common and challenging issue that many people face in their daily lives. It can affect your mood, your health, your relationships, and your faith. Anxiety can make you feel overwhelmed, fearful, and hopeless. But you are not alone, and you are not without hope.

God loves you and cares for you. He knows your struggles and wants to help you overcome them. He has given you His Word, His Spirit, and His people to guide you, comfort you, and strengthen you. He has also given you the gift of prayer, which is a powerful way to connect with Him and cast your anxieties on Him.

This book is designed to help you use prayer as a tool to overcome anxiety by focusing on God. It is made up of bible verses, devotional readings, and prayers that will inspire you, encourage you, and challenge you to trust God more.

Each day, you will read a scripture passage that relates to anxiety, a devotional message that explains its meaning and application, and a prayer that invites you to express your thoughts and feelings to God. You will also find space to write your own reflections and journal entries.

This book is not meant to replace professional help or medication if you need them. It is meant to supplement them by providing you with spiritual support and guidance. It is also not meant to be a quick fix or a magic formula. It is meant to be a journey of faith and growth that will take time and effort. But it is a journey that is worth taking, because it will lead you to a deeper relationship with God and a more peaceful life.

My hope and prayer for you is that this book will be a blessing to you as you seek God’s presence and power in your life. I pray that it will help you overcome anxiety by focusing on God’s promises, God’s character, and God’s love for you. I pray that it will help you experience God’s peace that surpasses all understanding. And I pray that it will help you glorify God with your life as you live in His grace and joy.

May God bless you and keep you as you embark on this journey of faith.

    Your fellow traveler,

Anxiety as Seen in the Bible

There are many people in the Bible who struggled with anxiety. However, It is important to note that even those who were considered heroes of the faith experienced struggles with anxiety and fear, and that they turned to God for strength and comfort in those times.

In Part One of this book, we’ll explore important people in the Bible that struggled with anxiety just like you do, and how they turned to God for help. My hope is that these stories and bible verses will comfort and inspire you.

    King David

King David was a man after God’s own heart, but he also faced many challenges and enemies that caused him to feel anxious and fearful. He expressed his emotions honestly and passionately in many of his Psalms, which are songs of prayer and praise to God. In these Psalms, we can find comfort, hope, and wisdom for dealing with our own anxiety.

One of the Psalms that David wrote when he was feeling anxious was Psalm 94. In this Psalm, he cries out to God for justice and protection from the wicked who oppress him and mock him. He wonders how long God will allow them to prevail and cause him grief. He feels like he is about to fall and perish under their attacks.

But then he remembers that God is his refuge and strength, the one who knows his thoughts and cares for his soul. He declares that God’s consolation brings him joy, even when his anxiety is great within him. He trusts that God will uphold him and give him peace.

Psalm 94:19 (NIV) says: When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

In Psalm 38, David writes about his anxiety and distress, describing how he feels overwhelmed by his own guilt and sin:

O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. For your arrows have pierced me, and your hand has come down upon me. Because of your wrath, there is no health in my body; my bones have no soundness because of my sin. My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear. (Psalm 38:1-4)

David’s anxiety was often related to his own failures and shortcomings. In Psalm 51, he writes about his repentance after committing adultery with Bathsheba and having her husband Uriah killed:

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. (Psalm 51:1-3)

Despite his struggles with anxiety and guilt, David also turned to God for comfort and strength. In Psalm 23, he writes about how God is his
