INTRODUCTION

Life is a struggle! No doubt about it. As Christians, the Bible tells us that we will be faced with difficult times, but we are not to be worried because God is our help. We are supposed to look to God’s word to give us guidance along the way. There are many stories in the Bible that give us amazing advice and show us the way to navigate through the traps that life sets for us. Many of these great scriptures give us courage, comfort, affirmation, and hope. They lift our spirits and give us the power to get through another day, another battle.

Like many of you, I have faced difficult challenges in my life. Many times, in the midnight hour I have cried out to God in desperation for help. I have often tried to rely on God’s Word to guide me through the difficulty that I was facing. Sometimes that has been easier to say than to do as I lay there worrying, fearful, with that awful feeling of desperation deep down in my gut.

In 2004 I entered into a very dark and scary time in my life that forced me to search out the Word of God for direction and for comfort only to find myself more confused and even more scared than before. I entered into a place spiritually that I had never been. This was uncharted territory for me. I had no idea what to do. At one point in the struggle, I reached a place where I did not want another scripture quoted to me. I had enough of scripture. I wanted a step-by-step guide to deliverance from my struggle.
