Philippians 3:12 

Not that i have already obtained it or have already been made perfect, but I actively press on so that i may take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me and made me his own. 

Perfection is a fickle word. On one hand we push ourselves to do right and work hard and learn from our mistakes. We try to teach our kids the same thing, hard work pays off and we will be rewarded. But what if that wasn’t the case? What if instead of overachieving and pushing ourselves into exhaustion we take a step back and really see what all our hard work is getting us. 

Is it pushing us toward God or pulling us away? Do we expect more from our kids than what we do from ourselves? Do our actions line up with our words? Do we put all our time and energy into everything else and put ourselves last on that list? 

Philippians 3:17 Brothers and sisters, together follow my example and observe those who live by the pattern we gave
