About this ebook

A wise old preacher once told his congregation to prove him. In other words, think and decide for yourself. Miss Mary's twin volumes beg her readers to do the same.

A Shack, based on the author's personal experiences, grips the handle of the wringer and runs your heart right through it.

Come, Sit: Let's Solve the World's Problems invites the reader to join chatty West Texan MeMaw, Tomasa, and her silent friend DeAngelic to come over and solve the world's problems around a quilting frame.

    To my Lord Jesus Christ

To everyone who sent up prayers and helped make my dream come true, a thank-you doesn't seem to be enough.

    To Sue.

And to everyone else at Newman Springs Publishing. Thank you for putting up with me.

To the wonderful people in West Texas, thank you for teaching me your dialect. I couldn't have written Come Sit without all y'all.

When life gets so hard, all I can do is grab Your robe and let You get me through.

    A Shack

The stories in this book are inspired by real-life experiences but are nonetheless fictional and presented with the purpose of advancing the story rather than reporting historical events.

    Tell Me

Tell me it's going to help one child

    Baring my soul

    Telling my secrets

Jesus, please tell me it's going to help

    One little child

    To show he's not alone

    That others survived

    What she's going through

Tell me it's going to help

Tell me You want me to do this

    And give me Your peace

Tell me You're not abandoning me

    (Hebrews 13:5)

    Blurry Images

    Oh, those blurry images

    They're my nightmares in stages

My Lord softly sends them to me

Jesus wants to set me free

So I must face what they are

    No matter how very hard

It's so very hard at times

    Facing the past that's mine

No one to help me through

That's why I turn to you

    Help me obey Your will

    I'm very scared and still

    Don't know how I'd survive

    Without You by my side

    Painful pasts, not just mine

Face my fears while there's time

Jesus here to help me stay

Trust and obey what He says

    Jesus knows what's at stake

Knows how much I can take

Need to trust in His word

He shows what I should do

    Wish I could walk away

    Need to be strong today

I just can't leave this be

    Lean on Him and obey

    Brainwashed

    It was all my fault

    That's what I was told

    It was all my fault

    That's what I believed

That he touched me like that

She hit me when things went wrong

Shoved me away when I leaned on her

She let that man dance with me

    I believed all those lies

    I didn't know any better

I did think it was all my fault

    I could not change me

I was only a little girl

I could not change what was happening

I could not change what my family said

What I can change is me now

I can accept Jesus as Savior

I can let go and let God

I can leave it all at the cross

    And let Jesus take over

    Mom

She was the mother of mine

    In all, she had nine

She loved them all except one

    Unfortunately, I was that one

    Why couldn't she love me?

I just don't know, could it be

I was different from the others?

I was born amongst my brothers?

    I loved the chemistry lab

    Not the home economics pad

    My sisters watched their soaps

While I was more into sports

Four girls, two boys, then me

    Born between the boys two

Told I was the odd one, true

The girls didn't want to see me blue

Light skin and eyes of blue

Looking nothing like my dad, true

Grandma loved my eyes of blue

    Grandpa loved me too

Okay, Jesus, here goes. Where do I begin to praise You for all You have done? Words really cannot describe what all You have done. I can tell others about what You have done in my life. I guess I need to begin with the lady who introduced me to You. How old was I? Four or five? It doesn't matter. You sent her, and I am so very thankful.

    The Lady

A lady came to my side of town

    To pick me
