Foreword
"How To Support Your Pastor" is an ideal diet for the church workers of today. It gives new orientation to workers, teaching them to know that they are not brought into the church to compete with their pastor but to complement his efforts.
This book reveals the fact that it is God that promotes and so playing supportive roles in the church. Known or unknown to the pastor, he will never miss the sharp eyes of God for a befitting reward.
If Israel interceded for Moses the way he interceded for them he would have taken the people to the Promised Land.
Our pastor needs our dedicated prayers on a daily basis. As they minister spiritual things to us, physical things should be ministered to them. All of these and many more are what this book tends to unveil for this century workers.
The author has tried to beat the message down such that even a new believer will find it to be a sincere milk of the word to be desired.
Recommended for all church workers seeking to excel in supportive ministry. May it bless your heart more than it blessed mine in Jesus name.
PASTOR E.O OLAWUYI
G.O, WORD OF FAITH BIBLE CHURCH, IBADAN, NIGERIA.
Preface One
Psalm 68:11 says, The Lord gave the Word; great was the company of those that published it.
The pastor’s primary objective is to publish
the Word and use the Word to bring salvation to men.
In this major task, the pastor needs every assistance, ranging from Spiritual to material and psychological. The twelve Apostles considered the job of publishing the Word so strategic and crucial that they decided to appoint Seven men of honest report
to serve tables. This was to enable the Apostles to give themselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the Word.
(Acts 6:2-4)
The support which the Apostles received in the above situation was to enable them to have sufficient time for their main spiritual mission. TIME is the only one of the ingredients.
Our Lord Jesus Christ sent the Apostles on the missionary journey to peach, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils; freely ye have received, freely give.
Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves; for the work man is worthy of his meat. And into what so ever city or town, ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide till ye go thence.
(Mathew. 10:8-11).
It is clear from the above passages, that men of God are not expected to be encumbered by the distractions of serving tables
attending to the issues of money, clothing, food, housing, etc. Yet the Lord God knows that they have need of these things. Who is to provide them?
Pastor Kayode Emmanuel rightly emphasizes the responsibility of the believers to help their pastors to focus on their primary activity, preaching the Gospel.
The congregation must in the true spirit of fellowship support the men of God materially, financially and in the ministry of the Word. Ministerial support for the pastor can come in various ways including assistance in teaching, in ushering, in the area of evangelism, in counseling, visiting and in other areas in which the goal of the gospel can be advanced. God gives gifts liberally and members of the Church should seek God’s guidance into areas where they can best contribute.
A major area of need today for pastors in the Church is in the Ministry of Prayer. Paul spoke
